Oh, BTW, please add me to the github. My name is horvay there too. I fixed most the upgrader and extractor recipes (though charms are still an issue).

Also I split the cubemain.txt file into three files, and created a bat script to put them together when testing.

d2vern is my brother. I can let him know a new version is being developed. I'm downloading and installing the d2se version as I type this.

thanks. Keep in mind that there are quite a few minor bugs until the next patch update. Id stay away from the extractor and updrader recipes until then.

there is an unsocket recipes that don't destroy the sockets? the major annoying thing for ma was i can't build my crafted jewel how much i wanted without restart a new one if i use them in a socket. of course, for make it balanced could make it extremely expensive or something.

I don't think it's possible, but I could be wrong. I looked into it a bit and couldn't see a way of doing it with the current modding framework that D2 provides.

With 1.10 and higher it is possible to have an unsocketting recipe since with that version you can have more than one item in the output.

WOW. Just WOW. I thought everything is dead. Started play ZyEl 4.4c again two days ago and randomly noticed about this version. So.. I'm extremely pleased. Not even tried it. Can someone explain some details for me? What's different? It's seems like a best part of these changes for me is a fixed caps. No more "God, my damage going to 0 cuz of cap/rollover". It was too hard to me, cause i am perfectionist. How much differences in other parts of mod? Any bugs? Sorry for that style of typing (english not my native lang).

Edit: Tried to use last version from GitHub, but got an error.

I just read a pdf file ZyEl5.pdf.

Here is a one lost feature that i can fix:
"Smaller Horadric cube: 10 x 8 because I didn't find any way to move the transmute button."
I can do that, if i have permission to.

Also, "removed food, returned potion drop" - that's really sad. Was very interesting mechanic. :(

May be worth looking in to, but I believe the output jewels would be random, not the one that was put in the item. :(

I don't think it's possible, but I could be wrong. I looked into it a bit and couldn't see a way of doing it with the current modding framework that D2 provides.
well, could also add some recipes for use that cube locks and crafting recipes on other stuffs and not just only on jewel, would be the same.
After all, every the big loads recipes are only on jewels and that become boring pretty quick

Development finished? After realising how much work goes into Mod development is this a "dead thread"? What has been done so far in any case bears no resemblance to Zy-El or the ethos behind it. Please take this "development" elsewhere please. It has no place here but may have a home elsewhere on the Internet.

Wishing you all the best,

Sorry for pathetic question...but...how do you set the P8+ thing in 4.5 Zy El?
Because it seems like I cant set it to anything. if I type 'Players 8' there wont be any changes in drop rates or monster strength.

Personally, I think I might have installed the mode in a wrong way. What I've done is:
1. Downloaded the standard Diablo 2
2. Downloaded and installed LoD expansion (don't even know what version it was).
3. Downloaded and installed D2SE
4. Put the Zy El (Unofficial) filed into MODS folder.

The games and the mode seems to be working fine, but it seems like I cannot change the 'Players' number value.
Any suggestions?

I've never played 4.5. just 4.4c, but in 4.4 there isnt that big of a change from p1 to p8, depending on ur class n level, after u finish a1, go back through it on p127. drop rates are extremely high for scrolls charms and other crafting materials.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there is an issue with the players command in 4.5

It used to be "Players 127" but now it's "/players 127". Try with the slash if you have problems.

This is probably it. Forgot he changed 4.5 to patch 1.10 instead of 1.09

Hey, just thought I would pop in and say hi... It's been at least a year since I last checked out Zy-El. About a week ago (10/28/2015) I saw this topic about new version development and was super excited to see that. I went ahead and installed the unofficial mod (4.5v11 D2SE edition) and got to work with a new character... a sorceress named Clytemnestra.

Excellent work thus far, Montex. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for the unofficial version. I went out and followed the github to be appraised of any updates. Below is my feedback.

She is now level 43 having just completed A1, Normal. So far I find the updates to be excellent. The way the collector system works now is wonderful... I love the access to elixirs in the early stage... you just have to harvest 7 or so rares and you can get an elixir! (provided you saved one up, or have 75k gold lying around) Being able to consume duplicate poster pieces, or rares (noticed that class rares give 2x the points) or joker cards, or set items/unique items (140 points or so a piece!) has been awesome! It's allowed me to create 5 CHoMs so far. Upgrading/duplicating runes and gems is now so easy to do. I estimate I have consumed about 2100 collector points in my efforts. I think this implementation of the collector is what Kato originally intended... the ease of transmutation has been wonderful. Now you don't have to remember point deduction recipes, or endlessly buy new collectors.

One of my favorite mods implemented a "Gem-Can" type collector where a chipped gem was worth 1 point, flawed = 3, normal = 9... etc. And 1 point in was always 1 point out... you could transform a standard gem into 9 chipped gems if you wanted. You've nailed it with the modifications to the collector for this version.

The thing I liked least about Zy-El historically was balancing the damage to not roll-over. Sounds like you now have that taken care of. I am excited to see it in action in a few hundred levels here.

Also, Horrors are so... horrifically strong in the latter part of A1... I love it! I dreaded every time I would enter a room and get surrounded by a group of 12+ Horror skeletons. Luckily, 3 Shield CHoMs coupled with a T2-all-seven-suits amulet made it so I take little damage right now. Andariel is a breeze compared to many of the monsters you have to fight to get to Andariel... I have always found that silly, but no complaints here... she gave tons of awesome loot.

I'm really looking forward to hitting level 55 on my Sorceress so she can learn Nova... that will be a good day.

I'm sad to see the community has really slowed down a lot lately. Perhaps with new input like this it will revive again.

Thanks!

Ill contribute to a revive of this with a tool i wrote/am writing. Its an easy to use auto hotkey builder for simpler tasks. Me for instance, i fill up my entire inventory with blue gems and transmute them all to rare gems with an auto hotkey makro. ALSO I will look into making a Zy El server if its possible at all. No doubt that more tools can be useful for reviving the mod. But I recommend caution, as I previously wrote one (about 2 years ago) that was deemed against the ToS. So... your mileage may vary.

I would not recommend adding any unofficial 4.5 mod stuff to the wikia for ZyEl. While its nice people want to revive the community I think its disrespectful to Kato to do this. He never shared the txt files from the mod. Im pretty sure there are things even now we still dont know or have even seen in the mod.

Thats just my thoughts on it.

When was the last time Kato posted anywhere on the forums or website or updated the zy el homepage? Look it up, its been years, literally. I even sent him an email earlier this year, and one last year. No response, ever. Its safe to say Kato moved on. And did he ever say goodbye or "Ill be back"? No. so he is disrespectful to the community. He just left and abandoned the community and the mod.

This version is not official, the last official one is 4.4c, and I don't see a problem with that.
Trying to put new info in the wikia is disrespectful to Kato and all the work he's done.

please stay away from 4.4 wiki with 4.5 documentation. You should update the docs that come with the mod (edit .docx file and build .pdf from it then) and commit changes to github.
On a bright side i fixed some some crashes and exploits. Recently i finished normal difficulty with a necro. Was rather challenging and fun. Will try sorc next most likely so see how well she does.
Though my version is starting to drift away from what 4.4 was. Almost to the point where it could no longer be called Zy-El...
PS. Lets not argue which version is better. Play the one you prefer and let other do the same.

Kato isnt disrespectful to this community. Do you know how old this mod is? Or how about how old D2 is? If he wanted someone else to pick up ZyEl, he would have shared the txt files that shows everything. He was always against someone else messing with the work he put into ZyEl. So in doing this, thats why I find it disrespectful. Other than maybe Eastern Sun I dont know of many other still active Mod communities.

Im not saying people cant. But I wont stand for unofficial patch info to hit the wikia.
