OK, thee is the deal :

We have 9 (NINE) runewords slot free. They're designed to be made by YOU.

The trick is that we'll have to propose ONE AND ONLY ONE balanced, innovative, original runewords given a set of runes. The most beautiful design will win a slot and incorporated into the game.

I don't ask for details (like you don't have access to the base item infos and the like) but a rough design. Special oskill, trigger skills are good, NEW ones are better and original CONCEPT are even better.

You can ask any infos (like is this ok, does this item exists, does this skill doable) discuss the various runewords posted but remember, every people will HAVE ONE SINGLE CHANCE to propose a runeword.

no, the mod devellopement is still going on and the alpha will be released prior to the ending of this stuff :)

I don't know if this one will be ok for the mod you have, but I'll send my idea based on the character I used on AD&D.

Since they look like a low level runeword I'll not expect a strong result ;)

Strike from soul is a skill that works like the last cold armor from sorceress (but that can be used at the same time) during a time, each ranged attack that is inflicted will release a missile (pierce) that will damage all it touches on its path (possible magic or random damage?)

Call to the Essence is a castable skill (function like barbarian cries) that will grant allied units on its radius get a (magic/physical you choose) damage reduction based on your ¿vitality/energy? for a short period of time.

sob, sob too many ideas for skill but I can't write this skill does this or this or this because that's cheating ;)

Happy modding and good luck to all people, this runeword is gearer towards a caster, but since it seems low level rune I can't make call to essence yet another battle orders buff :P

*when worn has a fog like effect in a VERY short radius around the player.


i have no idea what numbers you are using for items so i had to wing it.. that is why i use +1 all skills instead of 2. but the more i look at that -75% player life the more i think it should be +2 all skills.. i dunno, just an idea for a runeword that i think may be pretty balanced

Wow, only one suggestion allowed? That's harsh... so many ideas to choose from. And it's tricky to offer a good design without knowing the particulars of the mod. Hmmm.... this is one of my favorites that doesn't consume itemstatcost.txt entries:

Revenant

The theme of this runeword is the cold embrace of the grave. In accordance with Laz's doctorine of Conflicting Skill Wars, it combines elements favorable to summoners with cold damage. I think the combination of abilities will be useful to a variety of builds, though.

El-Is'-Gwe-La-Ron (runes 13-4-20-8-24)

Stats from runes:

Other stats:

minion-hp% 1 12
res-cold% 10 50
ac% 25 150
oskill Rime Touch
reanimate-rand 5% Specter

Rime Touch would be a simple Enchant clone for cold damage. The damage would be enough to be a useful boost, especially if cast on multiple minions, without going nuts.

The Specter would be a new monster type that is designed to deliver a powerful blow of cold and then go away. The hp would have to be balanced so that it dies very quickly but can survive long enough against ranged attackers to not insta-die every time without doing anything. They should be designed to survive only long enough to attack a single target.

The reanimate modifier is random so each time the runeword is created it will select a variation on the specter. Some might be faster, or have a more powerful attack, or have a death-skill instead of a strong elemental attack. My favorite setup would be a mild cold melee attack with a death skill that spawns a patch of cold firewall (like Median's avatar but smaller AoE). This would also allow you to play with all sorts of monster and monequip variations to add variety to the runeword if it suits you.

If you prefer something more simple, then instead of the reanimate use a % chance to cast on kill a skill that consumes a corpse and spawns a homing cold missile. Same basic idea without the variety.

Now, overlays and such are always a nice touch to special items, but I don't like to go nuts with that otherwise you can end up with a big graphical mess. However, if you think altered graphics works for this runeword, my suggestion is to colorshift the player black or gray with a fade effect.

I think this runeword works best on armor/shield; as a weapon it would likely be an obvious choice for a summoner but would probably not be useful for any other build.

slows victims by a moderate degree (sorta like thier life essence is being drained, weakening them
+50% normal requirements (50 normal strength would = 75)
it would Fade the character (not the skill , the property)
Aura - Negative Energy Drain
This aura would slowly reduce any monsters life that is within the aura , kinda like a negative regeneration rate.

Ok it's a low level set of runes, so nothing really whiz bang about it. Explanation of the 2 skills and the value of X and Y.

Defilement - When hit, Defilement fires a missile/curse that steals some life back to the caster. It also takes that monster lvl, M. The effect of Defilement can be around 10-15 seconds? So M will last until replaced again or times up.

X = M*3. Basically if Defilement triggers, the Shield gains thorns.

Y = M. Similarly, if Defilement triggers, Smite and MagDmg will increase.

Death Grip - Curses Hit opponent with -95% movement -95% attackrate and -ve hpregen (big value is good due to short duration).
Duration = min(M*2,50) in frames. ie min of 2 seconds, even if M is not active.
Basically takes an opponent out of the fight temporarily.

Overall, the Defilement CTC skill triggers the effects for most of the bonuses. If you think that the effects should be reversed, ie Defilement is triggered by Hit, and Death Grip by GetHit, that's fine with me too.

Here is my suggestion :

Lei Wen Hyl in 3 socketed shield , "Shield of the Light Servant"
(current runes properties in v 0.4 :
Lei : 6 life after each kill for rlvl 12 ;
Wen : + 1 light radius, rlvl 3
Hyl : requirements -8% , rlvl 27 )

Properties that should be added by the runeword :
+ 6 light radius (total +7 including the Wen's )
+ 15% chance to bloc
+ 10% fast bloc
+ 1 to Templar Skills
+ 7 all stats
+ 25-40 lightning damage
+ 12 all resists

Edit : hmm I think 15% bloc and 10% fast bloc can be in 1 magic affix, like it is in standard LoD if I remember well ? If so, maybe we also could add a little damage reduce or thorns, like 7 ...

Edit #2 : had forgotten to indicate rune codes ... so, should be r05 r02 r10.

Edit #3 : seems like +6 to light radius still is not much for dark places ... I think something like between +10 and +15 would be better ... maybe like +12 (rune direct effect included)

Rixots Laugh. The sword he made after Rixots Keen - which is another funny sword. Rixot, who ever he was - some say he was a powerful Carver, - who knows - Crafted this peice long ago in his forge in 'Pit Level 2'

Very Fast Attack Speed.
+50 To Find Magic Items [solid 50, not a %] [on strike]
+100 To Find Gold from Monsters. [same as above] [on strike]
2-8% Chance To Gain 100% to Magic Find based off Maximum Hitpoints. For 10 seconds. [what this means is that if player has 500 hit points, when this skill activates it will boost thier magic find by 100% of 500, which is 500, it would add '500' to magic find, not '500'%' to magic find.-on strike]
4-16% Chance to Gain 500% To Gold Find For 8 Seconds based off Maximum HitPoints [same as above, if player has 500 hit points, it would add 500% of that 500 to gold find, which would add a base 2500 to gold find. -on strike]
20% Chance to Reduce Damage 100% Based on Gold Find For 10 seconds. [again, if player has 500 Gold Find, this will reduce player by 100% of 500, which will reduce damage by 500 -on striking]
5% Chance to Revice 150% Life Lost Base on Magic Find [basicly, the character would recive in terms of raw HitPoint Loss, 150% of what thier current Magic Find is, so if they had 300 Magic Find, it would drop thier Current HP by 450., ignoreing targets defence etc, uninteruptable, cannot be blocked, etc [cannot eb stopped by anything basicly] -on Strikeing]
-Light Radius by 5

Nice Reward, big price. I believe it would require makeing 4 new CtC skills though.

All the numbers given are of course adjustable to the level of the mod itself. And all the skills can work of eachother, say, if skill number 4 is activated, 7 can work off of it.

skills included:

Active:
Denial = +600%damage, instead of mana cost, it's 4k/5k gold cost.
Alchemy = convert items on the ground into gold
Bounty Hunt = convert corpse into gold

Passive:
Way of the merchant = increase defense whenever gold is below 10k
= decrease defense whenever gold is above 50k
Society of Salesman = increase damage whenever gold is betwen 10k-20k
= decrease damage whenever below or above 10k-20k

Aura:
Census Part time job = +50 gold per kill

that's it guys.. kinda weird, but it's something new... i hope u like it joel...
