I also tried a number of permutations that met those requirements and couldn't get it to work.

1 Class Specific Item + 1 Normal gem (any kind) + 1 Spirit Energy + 1 Soul + 1 Armor, Melee Weapon, Throwing Weapon, or Bow/Crossbow
A "Class Specific Item" is any item that only one type of character can use.
One thing to note about these recipes is that some enchantments only have a chance of spawning. All these different versions should add some bonuses to the item, but some of the better enchantments only occasionally appear.
