Help in classifying tiles

Post by Ogodei » Wed Jan 18, 2017 3:14 pm

Hello :)

I decided to attempt to work with maps and managed to successfully convert d1 maps to d2. I have a problem though, which consists in all of the tiles being classified as "floor" and being much smaller than d2 standard floor tiles: here's an example

These are my tiles when I choose them:

Can some experts in map making give me a plece of advice please? :)

Help is much appreciated, and thanks for your time :) I think I will release D1's maps once I've finished

You can use these walls as floor tiles in game, and they will look ok, but only in non-perspective mode, because in perspective they will look ugly.

You will need to set these tiles as unwalkable. Take a look at Dt1 tools and learn to use it. I suppose you use Tilemaker, right? Extract the dt1 file and look at the ini file that is generated. There you will find floor_flags - they control if the sub-tiles are walkable or unwalkable.

Thanks!

Learning how to use DT1 tools was the right advice :)

Here's a fresh screen (there are minor bugs but only because I was too hurried to see a result :p)
Take a look at the floor: it's the D1's Cathedral. I think I will work on recreating all of the 4 color variations per dungeon and then release the dungeon as a pack (similar to what I've done for monsters)
Thanks a lot again!
