Sounds to me like they're unfinished Ds1's. Arena was a feature that was going to be put into Diablo II for specialized PVP games, but was never finished. The corrupt ds1's are likely an unknown format.

EDIT: Opening them in drtester with LevelType 17 and LevelPrest 421, it looks like a semi-blank tomb with a few pillars in it. Try opening them with those values.

I opened DRtest and went to D2data.mpq , then typed in "data\global\tiles\arena\tombs\", copy-pasting from Shadooow's post. 'twas right there, and I found some guild-related DS1's as well.

Well my french version of D2 don't have them :(
Can you upload them somewhere ? I will be interested by looking at them, very closely

While you're at it, if you can send me your (listfile) too (from d2data.mpq and d2exp.mpq at least, all mpq if you wish), it may help me to have a more worldwide listefile, because I have NO data\global\tiles\arena directory in my mpql.txt at all, a sign that I have never encoutered such directory before.

Searching "Arena", I just have this :
data\global\excel\Arena.bin
data\global\excel\Arena.txt
data\local\UI\Fra\expansion\ARENAL1.dc6
data\local\UI\Fra\expansion\ARENAL2.dc6
data\local\UI\Fra\expansion\ARENAL3.dc6

my mpql.txt doesn't have them either. 8-O I can only find them with Dr Tester. Is there a way to extract a listfile with DRtest?f

Since you didn't have the ARENA folder, i'm guessing you also don't have data/global/tiles/guild . If you do, sorry for adding extra file size.

Tada!

EDIT: Whoa...looking at those DT1's in the Guild/House1 folder, I've seen some completely unused, EXTREMELY PRETTY dt1's. *Reminds himself to try it out in ds1edit ASAP*

EDIT2: And same with Guild/House2 ! This place has some SERIOUS potential! Those cottages in Act1 never were big enough to suit my needs anyway...
EDIT3: Fxied a tpyo
EDIT4: Sorry, these mystery dt1's i'm mentioning aren't included in the zip. I'll fix it ASAP.
EDIT5: And here they are (1.5MB)
EDIT6: Fixed the URL
EDIT7: Added this line.
EDIT8: Ok, after messing around (and hitting ESC too early :x ) with the new dt1s for house1, I've made some discoveries
1. Almost everything lines up seamlessly (the problem is in edit 2)
2. There's a set of castley walls that seem to float in the air. That's the only non-match problem.
3. Everything is paletted pretty bad, but they are salvageable (some green is showing up in the hey-look-at-me-im-wrong shade of pink)
I'll try House2 next.

Nope. But you can save them with mpqview. Just take care of renaming the (listfile) files to somehting else, like d2data_listfile.txt or put them in different directories like d2data\(listfile) ;)

Thanks for the zip, I'll check them.

Seriously though, that stuff is incredible. Good thing I found those, otherwise you couldn't have made them 8 times better. :) How'd you fix the palettes on the DT1's?

So I see that you opened the REAL DS1 with those entries? I just fooled around with a blank DS1 using thsoe entries.

So, here are all the screenshots so far :

http://paul.siramy.free.fr/_divers/arena_tombs_dm2.gif

I open each ds1 in wordpad, look for its list of files (tg1), and in LvlType.txt tried to find their equivalent. Cliff.tg1 is split into cliff1.dt1, cliff2.dt1 and corner.dt1, so you see it's not always easy. I then extracted these dt1 and put them in my win_ds1edit directory.

For the palette, I just used my last version of the editor, using the -force_pal parameter... but I corrected a bug, that is not in a released version for now : the palette was screwed when taking a screenshot and using -force_pal. You can use Paint Shop Pro and ask to laod a palette of act 3 and keeping the index.

For the screenshots, I asked to be in 1600x1200 screen resolution and despite I saw nothing (my screen shut down for safety), I took them beeing blind and the result is not bad at all ;)

Some .bat I used :
guild1.bat" wrote:@echo off
win_ds1edit guild1.ds1 -force_dt1 floor.dt1 cottages.dt1 treegroups.dt1 trees.dt1 stones.dt1 stonewall.dt1 cliff1.dt1 cliff2.dt1 corner.dt1 warp.dt1 -force_pal 1 > log.txt
housse1_guild1.bat" wrote:@echo off
win_ds1edit housse1_guild1.ds1 -force_dt1 warp.dt1 House1ext.dt1 house1int.dt1 floor.dt1 -force_pal 3 > log.txt
housse1_guild5b.bat" wrote:@echo off
win_ds1edit housse1_guild5b.ds1 -force_dt1 House1ext.dt1 house1int.dt1 warp.dt1 treegroups.dt1 stones.dt1 stonewall.dt1 trees.dt1 cottages.dt1 floor.dt1 -force_pal 3 > log.txt
housse2_guild3.bat" wrote:@echo off
win_ds1edit housse2_guild3.ds1 -force_dt1 cottages.dt1 warp.dt1 cliff1.dt1 cliff2.dt1 corner.dt1 treegroups.dt1 stones.dt1 stonewall.dt1 trees.dt1 floor.dt1 House2int.dt1 House2ext.dt1 House2roof.dt1 -force_pal 3 > log.txt
EDIT : typos and bit more infos.
EDIT2 : added 2 arena tombs Death Match screenshots

Wow! This means that i'll have to update to your new version. :)

I fooled around from scratch some more, taking it to it's next logical extension (cottages.dt1 and some town dt1's to fill it out), and made some neat stuff, even without any form of goal.

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but someone still having those arena and guild ds1s? Tried to use the web archive to download the zip from the sixth post, but they are not available. :/
