Hello good sirs,
I have not checked this forum for atleast a year now and now I am happy to see that there is a new version. I immediatly downloaded a fresh copy of d2 from the battle.net, installed d2se, downloaded the new version and tried to play. The game doens't seem to start at all. I am using windows 10, if this information helps at all.

It seems like an ASLR issue. We still have that trouble but we're in the process of getting rid of it (it just requires time ). Try one of the following:
- Rebooting and hoping it works
- Rebooting + Setting Win7 compatibility mode.

I have moved this from old keep. I hope you solved the issue so you can start play.
