I'm Back and I Need HELP

After nearly a year off I'm back Zy-Eling . I followed the links to download 4.4c but wound up with 4.3. Is there any real difference? Bringing the mod up to the current version won't cause me to loose anything will it?

Here's my real problem: after playing for over a week (crazy amount of hours) today I keep getting this error -
"Assertion Failure
Location: D2Client[backslash]ENGINE[backslash]gfx.cpp, line#1303
Expression: eComponent[less than]Num_Components"

Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it?

Both of these problems are easily fixable, however...

It appears you mistakenly (unless you didn't go to the main site) grabbed the version 4.3 MPQ, which is below the 4.4c MPQ.

As far as the error you're receiving, it is documented and in order to help you, please refer to the reporting crashes announcement in the forum so I can help you.

Did you get that crash in Act 3? Because if you did I know exactly what your problem is.

A monster called Floatiball was thrown into the mix in Act 3 and it had a nasty habit of crashing the game depending n the location of where they spawned. 4.3 addressed that issue and 4.4 fixed it by removing the monster from the spawnlist.

You have two options: Either keep rerolling the map till Floatiball doesn't spawn or replace your MPQ with 4.4c.

@d2vern - I followed the link on Kato's main site (I assume it's his anyway) and thought I was downloading 4.4. Guess I'll try again. Everything will carry over correct? I don't have much in the way of riches and gear but I'd sure hate to start over.

@Hellwolf_36 - You're absolutely right: the crashes occur in act 3. I played for over an hour last night and made it to the Durance of Hell without a crash so I guess I got lucky.

I'm playing a lvl 79 assassin that desperately needs life. Well ..... she needs lots of things but life is on the top of the list. I remember from playing before that there's a formula for a life belt (?) that requires a crafted belt, some perfect rubys and the rest I don't know. Can anyone help with this? Can you keep building up life or is this a one shot deal?

Are there any good runewords for my sin and her cold merc?

crafted belt + perfect ruby + unique ring + unique amulet + key => new crafted belt + life based on character level.

To preserve the attributes of the existing belt you need to add a cube lock. It's probably best to do the recipe one time and then Megaload crafted jewels for +life and increase max life% and socket them in the belt. You will be a long way from being able to do this yet. You will need a bunch of full Zy-El scrolls.

At Level 79 there isn't much in the way of runewords that I remember but I'll dig up one of my assassins and if I see any I will let you know.

Edit - Is there a recipe for making unique rings and amys?

I'm at lvl 100 now and heading to Diablo but I still don't see much in the way of runewords.

Finally downloaded the latest version and besides the trading cards (which I could care less about) the only real difference seems to be how easily my merc now dies.
