Well, I was just thinking about bandwidth. I'm pretty happy with the weapon. Perseverance's damage is 12-47k, definitely enough for me to do the MMC soon.

Edit: Perseverance just completed the 2nd MMC, and will probably farm a bit more in NM before moving on to hell.

2 solid days of playing and my score does not really show the significant improvements I've made to Atlas' gear. I'm now cashing in huge amounts of Devil's Food accumulated since the beginning of the tournament and am running Uber Diablo for Unique Charms to turn into Maples. I do have scroll #50, so that's where most of them are going.

I've done the Radament Quest but have not advanced much further in Act II so no additional PP points. I'm only at the first area outside Lut Golein so I could run the Dark Magician's Chamber to level to 91.

EDIT: With all of the gear improvements/tweaks I made to Atlas over the weekend I felt confident enough to move on and have him demolish Act II Hell for some more PP points. So, now Atlas sits on the Kurast docks awaiting my instructions. He'll need to wait a little while though because it's back to Sims 3 for me — I have a challenge finishing a week from today and I have not even started it.

Can I delete Perseverance from the scoreboard and start another character? Although I really like this tournament idea, I'm beginning to hate her.

It's Al's final call. Technically, it is a one character event, but I don't really see it as an issue if you'd delete your current one.

Beefy2....go ahead and delete her and start a new character from scratch if you wish.

If participation levels were high I might take a different stance but if it keeps you playing and keeps the tournament going I am happy for you to do this.

As for me, I am lacking motivation to play D2 period at the moment as well as being extremely busy in real life both at work and additional involvements in my sporting interests but I will be back playing in the near future, both here and the ES Curator's.

Meantime..happy Zy-Elling everyone :)

EDIT: Ghorgh hit lvl 40 and is preparing for rescuing Cain.

His journey was pretty rough at the beginning. Ghorgh died twice in the first 30 minutes, at first by a :doh: chest (completely forgot those :) ) and then he got caught by a bunch of charging Zombies. Things went easier, when he got Bash, and even more at lvl 15 because of a pair of Mist Gloves. Hit Blinds Target and Knockback are a very nice combination when fighting several tougher monsters like Skeletons or Tombrats. The main problem was to get a good weapon. There aren't any useful early weapon RWs for Barbarians. The first decent one was Horacer777 at lvl 25. I put it into a Large Axe, bashing with it all my way though lvl 40.

I found two 'Gem to Elixir' scrolls and had some nice luck with a Kobold bosspack near the town entrance: at lvl 30 I farmed it at players 127 and got enough Elixirs to make two Minor ChoMs.

Another good drop was a 'Five Socket to Item' scroll. My first idea was to use it for a Phoenix Charm, but I wanted to try Double Swing anyway, so I made a Phoenix Crystal Sword, which has much higher damage and 78% Crushing Blow instead of ~30. But I'll add a Phoenix Charm as soon I have the gold for the runes. The second weapon is a Catastrophic 2h-sword, which will be replaced hopefully soon.

Another really good addition was an Amity Charm. Freezes Target means even more crowd control. Together with Blind/Knockback and the Phoenix' Frozen Orb it looks like a pretty safe composition now.

So the current equipment is:
Weapons - Phoenix, Catastrophic
Helm - Savage RW (+3 Bar Skills, life, resis)
Body Armor - Rhythm RW
Gloves, Belt, Boots - Catastrophe, Harken, Booster RWs (Belt and Boots need upgrades)
Rings, Amu - some crappy Rares, but I already crafted a lvl 53 ring with ctc Static Field
Charms - 2 Minor ChoMs, Amity, Zephyr, Mist, Toy, Spock, Touchstone and a 4-socket Quad with a Grape Seed, a Squash Sprout and two empty sockets

And stats:
Double Swing damage - Phoenix 755-2153, Catastrophic 368-1193
Resistances - 75/75/75/75
Life - 1119

Life is too low for a high players setting. A fire enchanted Mush Head dropped Ghorgh's health to 30% when dying at p8, and too many Misshapen attacks hurt as well, so I'll focus now on getting more life. Gigantor RWs would be very helpful.

Otoh the offensive power is awesome right now. Great damage, attack speed, CC and ctc spells. (Can't wait for the Static Field. :) ) And all that with only +8 skills and 32 skill points spared. There are some more ChoMs I'd like to add (Destroyer looks cool), but they would drain life too much.

Well, that's it for now. Back to the game. It's great fun and the music is beautiful. And thanks, Al, for the very helpful hints earlier in this thread. If you think of anything that I've missed to make Ghorgh's life easier at this point, please tell me. :)

The only things that are going to make a significant difference early on for you are posters, either Minor or preferably Album, so keep all your poster fragments and reroll your duplicates.

The Album posters generally have nice replenish life, allowing you to add more CHoMs like Destroyer etc.

For a temp fix for life you can socket rubies into tall charms.

Got back from holiday last week, didn't feel too tired, decided to play this for a while... bad mistake. At players 8 I was in level 2 of the durance of hate for the first time and unconcernedly laying about myself when an exploding undead doll of some description did the nasty to me :(

I've since killed the big M on players 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 24, 32 and currently 64 and my life has gone from the 4k it was then to 32k now, I've made Requiem, Decorum, Lament, Idea plus a couple of Anthems.

What I want to know now is:
  • How do I complete the Kill the council Quest, I've tried killing the council, but that doesn't complete the quest - any ideas anyone?
  • Now I can make any item what charms/gear should I be looking at?

Sorry to hear about Cawti's death Chris.

You definitely want to start crafting a jewel with +life and increase max %life. I would suggest a minimum of +30,000 to life and increase max life 1050%. This you should put in your crafted belt (assuming you have one with life on level already). For the other socket either craft another identical jewel or one with other attributes that will be useful.

If you can bring yourself to put in the hours required and do hundreds of Meph runs you should consider getting as much end-game gear as you can right now before advancing too far. Reason being it will be easier and quicker to do the runs in normal mode. Aim for the same attributes you would for an ES character e.g. All Ressies, Max all ressies, DR, MDR, Dual leech etc., etc. If you don't want to rely on meph runs when you get to nightmare and hell, also make a high Gold Find jewel and stick it in any free socket. The higher the GF the better.

The life jewel should be the first you work on regardless of what you do thereafter.

[EDIT] Sometimes the Council members are difficult to find and it can take a few game restarts before you kill them all. They should be towards the very top left and very top right platforms as well as in the middle. Just keep trying and you'll get them eventually.

So I just did a complete clear of Travincal followed by a complete (yes everything) clear of the Durance level 3 and no joy, I really don't know what else I can do.

The quest is only completed in Travincal so doing Durance clears is a waste of time.

Try 1 more time in Travi and if you get the quest good but if not, consider it done anyway. It's not a major obstacle in completing the Mayhem challenges (if you can beat Meph then the council are a given) so don't worry about that quest icon not being greyed out.

Ghorgh hit lvl 111. He head the wrong way in Tal Rasha's Tomb, got tired and teleported back to Lut Gholein, giving Duriel a short grace period.

Shortly after the last update I crafted a lvl 40 ring with ctc to Hydra, which Ghorgh could equip immediately. Very nice. This made his life much, much easier. I never crafted a ctc ring with such a low level requirement before. Lowest was about 50 I guess. And Hydra is just awesome.

Thanks for the advice with the rubish (is that a proper word? Oh dear, I must be tired as well) Tall Charm. I also used several Cube Scrolls with 'Add HP to Charm', so at lvl 70 Ghorgh had almost 3000 life. My luck with Gigantor Charms was terrible though. I made three of them: the first had 11% max life, followed by 13% and 9%. Ouch.

So with a 'normal' Gigantor Ghorgh would probably have survived the Bone Golem ambush in the Catacombs. Suddenly two or three hit him badly and he died. Ouch again. It was of course my stupid fault underestimating them, because they weren't a problem beforehand. (The Dark Ones were usually more annoying.) It seems that players 16 was a bit too much.

I think deaths will happen again. So expect more of them in the future, especially in the Insanity Levels. But it's still a very long way until then. I have no idea what they are like. Should be fun. :) You even might see a negative score. ;)

Killing Andariel was of course easy and most of Act II as well. Thanks to Battle Orders Ghorgh has now 10k life. No poster yet.

Looks like we will be having our own personal competition to see who can post the lowest negative score :lol: I just did the Cow level in normal at Players 8 and although there were only 2 Champion Immortals, the first 1 killed me 1-hit and that was with all ressies at 95, DR at 214, MDR 413, Magic Absorb 42%, Life leech 150%, Mana leech 210% and 1.56 Million life. Managed to get the two of them after that with a hit-run-hit-run strategy. I'll not post a table yet as I am going to try Suicide Sanctum, Wayside of Woe and Orifice to Oblivion so I may hit a negative MM by the end of the day :roll:

[EDIT] Did the Major Melee Challenge and died twice giving me a total of 3 deaths and a Melee Multiplier of just 0.85 :roll: Negative MM here I come :lol:

I just did Nightmare Cows at Players 16 and it was a piece of cake since I didn't get any Immortals. I'll try Suicide Sanctum after dinner.

Ghorgh finished Act III today and is currently running Mephisto at players 127. He has 65k life, his level is 246 and he gaines another level every two kills. I already made Zy-El's Requiem and Vice for him.

Which is the most effective way to get Zy-El Scrolls?

So far I've made them via 50k Collectors (25 Zy Runes + 5x 1k Collectors), using the surplus Demon Keys and Elixirs to cube the 1k Collectors. But in the long run Fragments (21 Zy Runes) seems to be better (although 2800 points are wasted per scroll), because duplicates won't be much of a problem as you need tons of them in this tournament. I'm not sure. For an exact calculation I'd have to brush up my knowledge about probability theory because of the duplicates and rerolls. Not to mention the cost of Elixirs which will be required for Cube Locks. Nah, I'm too lazy for that. :mrgreen:


EDIT: Ghorgh hit lvl 255. I gave him two rare Oath of Barbarian Colossus Swords. He has now 107k life.

I'm retiring Atlas. I accomplished a lot with him. It would have been nice to get him to lvl 95, but it would have been so much more work to do so. I honestly do not know how in the world I could have pushed Concentration's skill level to 100. I only made it to 75 — 25 more levels would be pretty tough. I was able to get a couple more MM bonuses, but I couldn't get all of them before I decided to pack it in. The Mega MMC took 5 hours and was unquestionably the most difficult test I've ever passed in ES. There's no way Atlas could survive the 4th MMC, he chugged a lot of purples during the Mega one.

So, I kicked my score up quite a bit. I can certainly be beaten and more power to anyone that's willing to put in the effort to do so.

It was fun. Good tourney, Al.

Just wanted to pop in and let you guys know I'm not dead. I entirely bombed the Summoner Smackdown tourney, for when I joined I really was sick of D2 and felt a certain responsibility to keep going. And of course, this made me unofficially quit. I won't be joining any tourney's until I get my D2 lust back ( if ever ) but until then D2 is uninstalled. I'll be lurking around and answering questions when I feel appropriate.

Before continuing with Nightmare I'm going back to run Mephisto and craft a 2nd jewel with life. The first has only 3 megaloads, just to boost life a little bit and to check how much work I'll probably have to do. I will also make a jewel with tons of GF, so finishing NM and Hell will be more profitable, so I can finally stop running Meph and invest the gold in Zy runes. I should add more elemental damage to be prepared for physical immunes and to boost my overall damage.

Ghorgh's equipment: 2 Oath of Barbarian swords, Oath of Barbarian armor, Word of Barbarian boots, Zy-El's Requiem, Vice, Lament, Idea and Legacy and a crafted belt with currently +45 All Skills. I also did Zy-El's Anthem, so I need only 4 more artifacts for the bonus.

He has 504k life, 83% resistances (found a Shard of Hamster jewel), 54k/53k Frenzy damage, 57k Whirlwind damage, 1200% MF/GF.

Damage could be higher with the charms I socketed with damage jewels (e.g. Shard of Atlas/Accuracy), but it seems I do less damage with them at some demons like Meph, where 99% of his life goes down in just a few seconds, but for the last 1% I need about 15. Very annoying. I had to remove the charms. The weird thing is this doesn't happen all the time, but only at some monsters. Damage cap already? How can this be when the display shows only 57k damage and the cap is at 83?

It's either that or more likely the fact that the monster life display bar isn't a true graphical representation of hit points remaning for monsters with high hitpoints. You will find the same issue when taking on Imortals and other Insanity Level monsters with huge hitpoints i.e. the life bar drops very fast for the first few hits only and then takes forever for the kill.
