Just a tip for new players(like me)
Hi there,
Found this out more by accident while using another tip, but anyway:
You'll need a cold rogue(preferably, just to help you more), and abit of hp/def. My paladin at lvl10 could do this without much stuff in him.
Run around Blood Moor in players 1 to make every monster spawn. Don't waste time killing them now, in case your merc kill some, no problem, just stick running around to make all of them spawn.
Once you're done, go to the beginning(exit/entrance of the city) and set players to 127.
Now go on killing everything in sight.
Looks like the drops are random at monster dead, instead of monster generation(same things with the objects), so when you run around in players 1 spawning everything, the monsters are spawned as common ones, but when you set players 127, the treasure classes, which are still to be determined, will use the players 127 value
Hope that don't spoil the fun, just a trick I found out.
Later.

Re: Just a tip for new players(like me)
Hehe, yeah. I played many mods before, I even tested zy-el before, but thought it was way too hard, just downloaded it again to give another try
It's quite nice actually, the difficult is something I haven't seen in many mods before, and while it's quite evil to make a new char need lvl5 to get a sucky skill(hehe), it's actually nice. And I like evil stuff too, so..
I think I'll start a necro though(I always play necros). Let's see how far I can reach
And... this tip looks good for let's say... act bosses
Later guys.

Hi folks,
It's been a while since I posted in this thread but here is a word of warning. If you try the Players X trick as outlined above when Kato releases the new version, a lot more than TCs and XP is affected. Expect monsters to be much tougher and killing them to be much harder.
P.S. Zy-Eller: As your avatar is a (almost) smaller version of mine can I call you "Mini-Me"
Happy ZyElling

Maybe Zy-Eller should be called "Al-t"
Yeah, that's PlayersX trick will work in 4.4. Just don't get hit . . . by anything. A starting char can get one-shot-killed by a single quillrat ranged hit at Players 127.

So in 4.4 the already spawned monsters will update their stats
when playerx changes? Because that's the only 'fix' for this trick.
I think you mean in 4.4 playersx will also alter monster's stats, slvl,
and all that, but it wouldn't be a burden to someone using this trick,
since the monsters would already be spawned with players1.
The purpose for this is purely drop-based though.

I can verify that you can be hit one hit killed by a quill rat in 4.4. I was summoning a skeleton and tried to assist the lone skeleton on a quill rat and was knock out with one punch. Luckily I was playing softcore.
I do not do the run around trick. I just play at what ever setting I choose and play at the setting for the whole area.

I usually do that as well, just wanted to point out this to people beginning in Zy-El, I didn't know that when I started a few days ago, it makes things a little bit smoother, you can get some extra runes and gems this way, sometimes even a poster part.Hans";p="381633" wrote:I can verify that you can be hit one hit killed by a quill rat in 4.4. Re: Just a tip for new players(like me)
What was changed about the players setting?
Modifying not only HP, XP and drops, but also damage?
I just tried running the bloodmoor with the good old trick with my lv31 assassin. Died from 3 skels hitting at the same time.
Haven't got a single complete poster and not even seen a part of one for days... messing with runewords i dont know the effects of gets boring and it seems i wont be able to run about till i get the lucky cherry pit recipe or something similar :| or at least, not with the usual quickstart setting.
Guess i'm going to find out how long this game takes when you cant use more than say... players 8.

You actually can, at higher level. I have new lvl 300 amazon and I play her at players 32 setting now.
The change of players x seems fair to me. Game gets harder and more interesting.

Re: Just a tip for new players(like me)
This is a never ending mod. Kato keeps adding more and more new things. He is already working on 4.5.
This is really a collectors mod, as much as anything. With thousands of levels and items. I have a level 200+ Sorc and Amy and in lvl 5. There are areas that I wont attempt until my characters are in NM awhile and I feel strong enough to come back to Normal and try, but then thats just me. You young people are much more agile.

regarding the players x setting....I am not sure what problems are being experienced. I have a lvl 70-ish druid who can handle running in Radaments sewers at players 127....and I dont have a complete poster yet....

how did you get to Act II without a minor poster?? you must have an unholy number of runeword charms... and runewords in general... although if a char could do it, it would most likely be a druid... not sure how the druid grows in the new patch... but i remember my druid being a juggernaught...

Well, my necro got to act2, he's at level 47.
He doesn't have much stuff in him, aside from a amulet that
has charges to Iron Golem. But that's all, skels get quite good at blvl 25(when you have 5 points into skel mastery).

It seems there are different ways to get through low level game. I did not collect any posters either, but remember to use every single summon I could - valk, blood golem, clay golem charges. It was very funny to play a sorc with such a crowd. Also was very busy making CHOMs.

common theme appears to be summons...my druid only has a minor chom healer, a few runeword charms, all early lvl, but my summons on the other hand, 20 ravens, 20 spirit wolves, poison creeper thing, and a fire elemental from one of the runewords, all which are almost indestructable at 127...

The Druid Summons can be very strong at the beginning. I love having over 50 ravens pecking at monsters and having spirit wolves tanking for me.

Yeah . . . I admit that I may have over-beefed the Druid. He's the melee-equivalent to the Bowazon now - which is not necessarily a bad thing. I always liked being an "indestructable" Lycan wading into demon hordes like a hot knife through butter!!
