I am pretty sure there have been multiple mods that altered the story or introduced an entirely new one. Creative mod of D2 would essentially introduce a storyline and concepts. If it is only focused on simply increase drop rates, items and skill power in my opinion it is essentially a "cheat" which some could find entertaining, but it has been done so many times I'd say it is quite the boring concept. If a mod focuses on mechanics and enveloping them in a player engaging experience it would be one great mod.
