Apocalypse - The 5 Waves Of Chaos
SBM" wrote:1.) Mod Name : I'm not sure. At the moment the name is Universal Mod.
2.) Mod Changes Ideas until now : This Mod will be only for Diablo 2 LoD!
-new weapon design for every weapon of the game!
-new armor design for every armor of the game!
-new names for weapons and armors
-new uniques (standard uniques of Diablo 2 LoD will be deleted!)
-new Monster
-a lot of Balancing (itemdrop, skills, stats, experience)
-the difficulty level will be increased (Monster become stronger)
-new set items (old will be deleted)
-new gems
-unique and rare charms
-some bug fixes
-perhaps some new sounds

I'm working on this mod for three weeks now and there's a lot of work to do. I hope that i get an own thread for my mod where i can discuss my mod with other people.
Greets,

SirBennyMiles
SBM, please let me know when you have the definitive title for your project, I'll gladly change the thread's name for you. Good luck with the project :D

Thanks Alkalund,

now I'm ready to discuss my mod with you!
Alkalund has already mentioned the planned changes of the mod at the moment, but i want to add that some surprises are also in this mod.

btw: Critical opinions and new ideas are desirable!
So come on!And the name of the mod has nothing to with "the best mod ever". I have chosen this name temporarily because he changes many various aspects of Diablo 2 LoD. ;)

So I have edited this message, because i was stupid. Forgive me!

Alkalund told me this before and it's probably not my place to tell you. But you don't have to make 2 posts in a minute. Yes, use the edit option. Also, you don't have to repeat everything twice. Alkalund said all that already. But this should be good once it's done.

Status of the Mod

Post by SBM » Sat Nov 30, 2002 2:31 pm

hi folks,

only a short summary what i have done until now:
-item drop increased
-you can buy mana potions
-you can faster buy better heal and mana potions (because of the planned increased difficulty)
-four new monster in a buffer txt (it takes a lot of time to get new monster!)
-51 new weapon designs of the normal weapons (not set,not unique weapons)
-11 misc design (charms, strong healing potion, strong mana potion)
-no loss of experience in higher difficultys
-decreased the loss of resistance in higher difficultys
-there are rare charms avaible now
-the balancing of the shrines has been improved

so there is a lot of working still waiting for me ;)

Questions??Critical opinions?

I'm not sure, but this was certainly discussed before at the forums, try running a search for it.
2)How can edit the maps of diablo 2?Is a program avaible with which i can do this?
Yes there is, and you can find them in our Tools Section of the File Center.
3)How can I change Animations of .dcc Files?I have a program to view them but which program do i need to change or edit them?
To edit existing dcc files, you export them as .gif files and edit them with an imaging software, then save it back as a .dcc file. To add new animations, you will need gif animations in a format compatible with D2 (8 directions, size limit, etc). There is plenty of info on this at the Multimedia forum. We have several new monster animations you can use in your mod at the Plugins Section of the File Center. Also, there is the Monster Converting Tutorial in the Tutorials Section that details a method of putting new monster animations to work in your mod.

All covered in the Multimedia Forum, and the Tutorial Section of the Keep. Just run a search, you will find plenty of information on this. Feel free to ask in the Multimedia forum if you need further assistance :)

Perhaps it doesn't belong here, perhaps i'm just too stupid. But Alkalund it doesn't work to extract dcc as gif files!I can't view them. Which program should i use?I have tried it with Paintshop Pro 7 but he tells me that it isn't a valid .gif format!Paint and Microsoft Photoshop also don't work to view this gif! Please help me!

Thanks :(

Try Animation Shop. Should have came with Paintshop. Just select the image you want to open and it should show u all the frames.

Just first save the dcc files as gif or something with Cv5 editor. Make sure to get the addon. It'll allow you to save as gif and then back into dcc once you finish the editing with Animation Shop or Gammi gif editor.

Make sure to get the Monster Converting Tutorial by Alkalund . It's in the tutorials section of the Keep.

Yes, you use CV5 to export dcc as .gif files, which then can be opened with all imaging softwares that support animated gifs.

And yep, this discussion does not belong here. Please feel free to ask directions here whenever you have problems, we will gladly point you in the right direction, and tell you where to look for the information you need; but the actual discussion of the problem solving should take place at the modmaking forums (general modmaking, multimedia, tools, code editing).

Storyline

Post by SBM » Wed Dec 04, 2002 2:53 pm

hi everybody,

i have just finished the alpha version of the storyline. I will edit it in future but for now it's ok. It should give a view on the mod.

Here it is:
:!:
Five Years have past since you have defeated Diablo, Baal and Mephisto forever but now there is something going on with your old friends. The shadow has infected them and they have turned to enemys. In the new Chaos of war you can trust nobody only yourself!Big unknown evil is coming and you have only some friends you will find. Watch your back and expect the everything!
:!:
So there is a lot of other work to do for me. Let's go :D !

NEWS

Post by SBM » Wed Dec 11, 2002 12:30 pm

Hi,

i have just added a new mainscreen sound! There were several problems but i solved them. Sound editing is quite funny i think. I am still busy with weapons gfx but i have already 75 of 300 normal weapons edited! It's quite boring to edit weapons all the time but i enjoy it  After the 300 weapons i will edit the gfx of the normal armors. And after that i will reflect about changing the animations of the weapons and armors because that will be a LOT of work :!:
I will keep you up-to-date!

k this is what u should do i think u should put new skills and new stats and a higher lvl u can go up to then get alot of new monsters and make like hidden tunnels and stuff like that then keep everything u said u were gonna do like make new sets and take the old 1's out thats a good way to make ppl play ur mod and make alot more items and new sounds and stuff so ... i am a mod tester for alot of hosted mods and un hosted mods so if u want me to test ur mod just email me or aim me and giive me ur mod name and where to get it at and tell me what u put into it and then i will aim u back and say if ppl will like it or no.so whenever u get a chance aim me or email me ok? thx alot and alot of the mods are kinda boring without new items and sets and monsters and new skills so lok into that k.

Looking good.;)

Just remember to keep focused on what you want out of your mod and all will turn out well. :program:

Have you tried pm jeff to see if they would put the file on to file planet for you. And have the dl in the keeps animation section just a thought.

Yes, that is probably your best option. Email the files to jbouley or PhrozenHeart (explaining its contents as well naturally), so they can be properly uploaded to the Plugins section of the File Center.

Hi everybody,

here is the next screenie. The offsets are completely wrong although i thought i had the right ones. But now i have the Offsets of Paul Siramy so all will be good i hope:
http://chaos.coolfreepages.com/Screensh ... nshot2.jpg
The Picture should work now (17.45 European Time). This Server seems to be not very good because i also uploaded it yesterday and now the Screenshot was not on the server anymore. :( Perhaps it is just because of AOL :D

btw: Why are my Offsets wrong every time?I get my X-Offsets with: Old X Offset + New Width - Old Width and my Y-Offsets: Old Y-Offset + New Height - Old Height. Are this formulas wrong??

I'm getting a 'page not found', even when copying/pasting the URL in a new browser screen :-|

And concerning the question you posted before: 6FDCF860 is the memory address; if you're working with an hex editor, you need to subtract the base address of the dll (in this case, 6FD40000), that will give you the offset you should use in the hex editor. In your case, the offset is 8F860. This is all 1.09b, if you use 1.09d the offset is a different one. If you need further help with this, please post in the Multimedia forum, I'll be glad to help ;)
