Pure Logic Mod

Post by onyx » Mon Feb 28, 2011 8:38 am

A new project by Ignaitus!

Pure Logic Mod

A mod made bySegolia/Ignaitus and Morrigan (graphics) and veinnyxx

-Currently in development, going towards Alpha

The mod will work for patch 1.13c

-There is no added storyline to the game, just the way it is.

Each weapon/armor/belt etc. is based on character classes only. Armors that have high defense will suffer movement/cast rate/hit recovery decreases but have the high defense and damage reduction, and belts with high defense carry less potions. Vice versa for more lighter armors. Durability is also a much more major factor in here. NOTHING will ever be indestructable.

-The character stats remain mostly the same, as well as their lore. The skill on the other hand is what makes the mod itself.
A total of 51 edited skills
A total of 45 new skills
All skills will have damage based off AoE. Example: FireBOLT deals more damage than FireBALL
All skills cost 1% hp per use
All skills are unlocked at level 1
All skills have NO pre-reqs
All skills are right click only
All skills are able to be put a point in 1 per 6 levels
Skill cap is at 30
ANY skill not mentioned that can freeze/stun/knockback lock has a skill timer

The new skills are replacing the really useless skills. The overall result of these skills is to offer a more strategic role for each skill, not each skill is better than the other. These skills often work well with a team as well, which will make the mod more fun

Monsters in the game are also the main feature of the mod. The monsters will have special abilities based on what there name is. Ie Venom Lords cast a edited Venom spell at will while a Pit Lord does massive physical damage.
Monsters each have a 1% chance to drop their soulstone jewel, which can be placed in a socket to add bonuses. Each jewel will be different from one another and will be something characters will farm for end game just to fill up their sockets.

-Other features in the mod include more cube recipies, a simple but effective crafting system, a more simple runeword system, more bearable gameplay Dungeons with great rewards, and an epic final boss that could end all bosses (will take you hours to kill), and a much harder difficulty than ever before. Think of it as The Hell (HARD Diablo 1 mod) version for Diablo II.

-You may visit my forum at: http://segoliasdiablo2mod.forumotion.com/
Any plugins are optional to you. But I will not support any directly.
This mod will NOT be code edited whatsoever.

Progress on the mod is so far minimal, I am currently with my partner, trying to get winMPQ to work and change the files in the MPQ but it does not seem to work. I will not back down on this though. In the mean time, I actively document future ideas on the mod itself on the forum. Any changes admitted I will post up.

Thank you Onyx for posting this.

Further information I forgot to point out/update:

-All characters have infinite stamina
Stamina potions now grant a permanent +1% run speed, really rare to find.

-Antidote/Thawing Potions instead grant max cold/poison resistance and reduce duration for a limited time.

-I may have found a way to fix what I may be doing wrong with WinMPQ, so development may start soon.

-When I do finish a new skill, I will post a screenshot of it

-New skills are in development of icons by Morrigan (aka my mom whom is a graphics designer)

-Segolia is me actually. I go by many names.

-I am thinking about possibly bringing horror in the game somehow, but from how D2 was developed I dont think I could do so. Id say BTH outplays each mod in horror, probably wont happen :/

-Music MIGHT be added, but for the most part, I do not know how I could find a composer at age 16 to perform dark horror like music. If anyone knows where I can find anyone who could compose music let me know please.

-The only charms you get is from Dungeons

-All items are 1x1 inventory space

-Inventory/Cube/Stash space is increased

-Tome of TP/ID/Keys/Bolts/Arrows stack up to 500

For plans to go in Alpha:

V1 will contain just the skills, to test for any bugs or issues

V2 Will add monsters and their souls

V3 Will add the brand new items

V4 Will add additional tweaks that are suggested by the users or what I seem fit.
(Becomes beta version)

Full release will ship with all dungeons/music (maybe)/final boss/new character speeches and a whole lot more!

Update: I am now starting the mod. I figured out what I was doing wrong and now progress has begun.
The skills WILL take a while, so dont expect them soon.

Edit: Progress so far (getting used to modding)

3/8/11
Edit: More slight changes
I am also thinking about removing fury and replacing it with a moon type skill...

(Let me know if you know a way to make FN work as a slowing stun nova)

Update: Progress is slowing down due to school, but is still in progress. I am now thinking future Ideas on dungeons, similar to median XL. Although you will have to complete it in each difficulty to earn each charm. Some of them will be in quest areas as well.
Also, from testing out skills, the list mentioned by onyx may be changed quite a bit upon my discretion...

EDIT: I will have an update very soon

made an uberquest, which is in future development, but has the basics down.

Quest: Sisters of the Sightless eye

Lore:
The 4 Sisters, all leaders whom lead the attack to free tristram, have all fallen for the powers of Hatred, and have gained blessings from Mephisto to assist Andariel in dominating the sisterhood (the 4 sisters are stronger than Andy).
Can you manage to defeat Blood Raven, Cold Crow, Shock Hawk and Bone Robin?

Details:
Bishbosh and Bone breaker have been replaced by these 2. Each one summon blood maggot eggs and has griswold animation minions know as "The Eternal"
The minions are near invincible and may be near impossible to kill, but not the ladies. When blood raven is killed she will take down minions with her, and ONLY blood raven will do this.
Other sisters will not kill the walking hatred when dead.

Rewards:
The Blood Raven eternals will drop some nice loot for said difficulty.
Each sister will drop their eye.
Once all are cubed you will get the

Sisters Sightless Eye.
Which will grant a massive dexterity bonus, allowing you to strike your foes very often.

(Progress
I replaced all the default SUs with these blood raven models and their minions
I have yet to change their names, because I have not touched tbl editing yet
And I have not made the Charm reward)

Yeh, whenever you figure one thing out, you realise there is another 2 things you need to learn. lol.

Nice work, I'm liking your general ideas so far :)

Keep us posted on how its going.

Note: One thing you should watch out for is the savefile limit, with so much space and such small items. You might wanna decrease the cube/stash/inventory size, or be really careful with stats savebits in itemstatcost.txt.

All the best man

Oh and Btw whist, you may have to change the colors because of the 256 color pallete screws up the images.
The edge of the orange wolf becomes purple and the blue wolf and its orb becomes yellow.

Hello everyone, I'm now on the modding team of the Pure Logic mod. I'm the main skill developer, but I will also be doing other things when needed. I'm glad to be part of this team and am glad to be working along with Ignaitus.

Since meta is now making the skills, when he is done with them and the GUI is done (except for the items, I need to do that) the mod can soon be easily put into Alpha.

It might be even longer than that. The skills are R-Click only and about 2 skill tress for the pally will be something new.
I am still not sure what skills I may have on that.....

But as soon as Meta is done the skills you could see Alpha pretty soon.
So far he has finished the Amazon, he may post screenies soon.
