We don't have many people making new mods for v1.09d these days, but never say never! Some people still hold true that 1.09 was better than any of the later versions, especially if a Fire Enchanted boss just took out your L90 harcore Barb. Whatever your opinion, here is EzechielP's shot at putting new life into an old warhorse. The mod is in German, and EzechielP is trying to translate it as he goes. If you can provide language feedback, I am sure he will appreciate it!


FAITH Mod

Storyline, Quests, Characters etc. have not been altered.

Item modifications:
New Runewords (almost 1:1 converted from 1.1x)
New Unique Items (almost 1:1 converted from 1.1x + some made of my own)
Improved Set-Items concerning Resistances (1.1x Feature) and some new as well

There are now enchanted Arrows and Bolts available
Charms can spawn Rare and Unique as well
Monster body parts used as charms with their own modifier pool
The extra large (1x4) Hellcharms are most likely to have the best modifier and some even spawn a socket...
New Runes and Gems (changed their textcolors for better visibility on screen)
Runes also have a much more fair chance to drop
Gems have higher variants (Nightmare and Hell) as well as a "growing" (Clvl-based) variant.

The "Spellbook" and the single skill-scrolls (works like charms) which can be put inside increases specific skills
Weaponoils and Elixirs can be used to improve your weapons or to improve the outcome of crafting-recipes
Elixirs of Ascension/Elixirs of Descension can Upgrade/Downgrade single Gems and Runes
"Imbue-Scrolls" can give your weapon and armor a chance-cast effect of choice
"Magic Scrolls" can contain Skills of every Class (even Monster) and can be used by anyone
New Modifier (Pre and Suffix) for magic items, some only had to be enabled.
Rares can inherit the highest modifier (Pre or Suffix) now
New (classspecific) Amulets and Rings which can be even more powerful than the normal ones

Bigger Areas and Level, more Enemies and a new big Dungeon (with its own Waypoint) housing some new foes...
Added old/new monsters (some from D1, some just enabled like the Quillbear and the Trap-Chest in Durance of Hate)
Monster in Nightmare have 50% better AC, deal 25% more Damage and have 10% higher Resistances
Monster in Hell are 50% more powerful and have 100% better AC and have 20% higher Resistances

The experience-loss in Nightmare and Hell is disabled.
Bigger Inventory, (almost) infinite Stash-Space (thx to Yohann Nicolas) and bigger Horadric-Cube.
Sorceress can cast Thunder storm and Teleport in town.
Its possible to gamble class-specific items, Charms and Jewels
In Nightmare and Hell-Difficulty it is possible to get up to 2 good Items from a single drop

General: New Titelscreens and Backgrounds
Act1: Fog-Theme; Rogue Camp is a little foggy now (to fit the fog-theme)
Act1: Treasure-Caves are 4 times bigger. (2 of 5 finished)
Act2: Compact Town
Act3: Compact Town
Act4: Altered Town
EzechielP's Glass Theme Plugin: Can make your Inventory translucent
EzechielP's Color Theme Plugin: Can make different colored buttons and control panels

Used Deathfiles's DLL package (all of it) and modified its d2game.dll to allow up to 9 item drops
and eliminate the chancecast bug.

Thanks Myhrginoc and thanks to everyone who already gave my mod a try ;-)! Remember, the mod is already translated and can be played by english and german gamers!

I'd really appreciate any feedback on my mod. So if you found my description above interesting (and also noticed the additions below) you can reach my mod-website via the following links or the ones in my signature. I'll keep you informed here over anything new to my mod!

EXPLANATIONS AND ADDITIONS:
To clarify a bit of the feature list above:
The "2 drops instead of one" in nightmare and hell means, every time the game drops stuff from the "Good TC (=Treasure Class)", which contains: rings, amulets, jewels, gems, charms, runes, my Oils of Crafting, my magic scrolls or my class specific rings/amulets, it checks if it drops one Item or two at once. Vanilla D2 gave only one item when a Good TC was called.

There were also some points missing in the first description above, because I simply forgot to mention them (took them for granted already it seems) or added them in the last Updates:

Items and Drops:

[*]The drop rates for uniques, sets and rares spawned by champions and uniques has been altered. They are higher in normal and a bit fewer in Hell.
[*]Throwing potions can be magical and rare (some effects on it might not work yet...)
[*]Disabled (set to 1) frequencies in MagicPrefix/suffix so all affixes spawn with the same chance.
[*]Rebalanced some Treasure Classes, especially the ones for "Good"-Items and the unique, set and rare propabilities for normal, champion and unique monsters.
[*]The chances for high weapon and armor types have increased too (x10)
[*]Normal and Enhanced Crafting-Recipes for Rings and Amuletts will work now for Class-Specific and Special Amulets and rings too.
[*]Vendors pay more for Uniques
[*]Rarities in misc.txt has been set to 1 (drops now fully TreasureClass-Driven)
[*]New Skill for the magic scrolls: Demoncage (aka DiabPrison) which can imprison all kinds of enemies, when they are currently not moving. They won't break out until you (!) destroy their cage.
[*]Chaotic Prefix will allow magic (and only magic) items to gain a random allskills bonus (Which will result in +x to Sorc skills, +y to barb skills, etc...) Somehow unbalanced maybe (escpecially with the use of the new crafting recipes) but a pleasure for the eye.
[*] Many many treasures and some might be used in Crafting recipes
[*] NEW: Oils can be crafted.

Monsters and Gameplay:

[*]Necro Summons are faster (as in 1.10), Bone Spear and - Spirit deal more damage.
[*]Some Curses, Auras, etc. can now have more radius with increasing Skill-Level.
[*]Zeal deal a bit more damage now with increasing Skill-Level.
[*]Some elemental Skilldamage-values have been increased.
[*]As you see in the screenshots I used a new border I got from the Keep!
[*]Fixed a translation bug for the Class specific rings.
[*]NEW: Monster spawning is now more random
[*]NEW: Monsters on Normal are stronger and give half as much EXP as before. + Their group size is more random than before!


Finally the installation-files and upgrade-files that come with my downloads are proper tested and should work fine now. They did work without problem on an XP-machine, so they should work on any system before that too, but as always, if there are any problems, post a message or write me a mail!

I also added a little program in my download-site which checks the Integrity of the FAITH-Mod-Installation and creates a log-file that can help me and the user figuring out what could have gone wrong with the installation.

To install an Update (over an existing Installation of Faith) you simply have to extract the zipped folder to your Faith-Subfolder in Diablo II and run the 'upgrade.bat'!

NEWS (30th Nov 2009):
Alpha testing of Faith 2.0 is about to be finished. I'm now breaking it down into pieces to enable said Do-It-Yourself character of the mod and soon you will be able to test the relaunched Faith-Mod yourself.
Expect lesser obvious changes (for example there is no plan yet to increase dungeon sizes again), but hopefully a more balanced Mod than the previous versions.

NEWS (07th Apr 2010):
Faith 2.0 is now available for download on my homepage. It comes in the Full and the DYI-Variant.
Since it is basically a reboot of the Mod, you won't be able to use your old Faith Savegames, sorry!
Please let me know if you find problems or when you really miss a feature from the previous versions.

I imagine it must be a bit discouraging, when nobody responds to your updates in this thread. Zy-El players might be willing to try the mod since they are already set up for v1.09d. And it takes only a bit of work once to make any D2 setup capable of playing v1.09x mods.

I am a little tied up at the moment both playing and doing testing for ZyEl and also playing Myhrginocs mod TFW:Awakening but as soon as the ZyEl testing is complete I will have time to try out Faith and hopefully give you some decent feedback. I would have tried it already if I wasn't so busy.

Don't give up working on your mod just because of the lack of response so far. I am the first and who knows, maybe it's a sign of things to come.

Thank you guys, I admit it was a bit discouraging until now, but I got some interesting feedback per mail lately too so I WILL definitely continue this mod! When I'm finished with the monster placement, I guarantee an Update!
Back from the dreaded realms of... the outside world ;)

I'll keep my old account name but just as an FYI you are more likely to find me as dEmergence nowadays across other platforms.

I just quickly tried the mod and although I don't have much to report with a level 3 sorceress, I must say the random archers appearing in blood moor to help your character are an unexpected and highly original feature. Definitely keep that one in and nice one :) .

It will probably be a few weeks before I can devote a reasonable amount of time to Faith but I promise to do what I can in my spare time. Glad to hear you are continuing development. You may well be the next Kato :D .

[EDIT] Just added a plug for you in my signature. Let's wake up the mod playing community ;) .

With the both of us testing the mod. We should be able to give you info on any bugs or balance issues.

Is there any character you want me to play, or anything in particular you want me to test. Since Al choose to play a Sorc. I will choose a different Character. I will not start until Monday.

I managed to play for a while earlier today and I am loving it so far. The Cave in Act 1 Cold Plains was very nice for drops and the "Hidden" were a bit of a surprise but cool :) . Reminded me of "Jem Hadar" in Zy-El.

Throwing potions it seems you are unable to direct properly at targets. They seem to have a fixed range to travel before exploding. I was just wondering if this is deliberate? It doesn't really matter as you get the hang of it quick enough just by backing off a fixed distance from your target.

In the Burial Grounds (Blood Raven), I got something that looks like a herb but it is in German "Alraunenknollen". I tried 6 web translators but none of them gave the English equivalent.

In the Stony Field I think it was, I got something called "Adrias Tome". Has this got something to do with the "Foreign Heroes" the readme mentions? I don't want to know how to use it, just if I am on the right track and if it should be kept for later on?

Just finished Act 1 Normal and made a couple of observations:

I seem to have a huge surplus of magic rings, jewels and amulets and as the only recipes I can see for improving them are....
Any Ring + 1 Perfect gem + 1 Charm + Jewel = Rare ring
Any Amulett + 1 Perfect gem + 1 Charm + Jewel = Rare amulett....
it is going to be a long time before I can do anything with them (a) need lots more gold to gamble for charms as they don't drop very often (b) don't have the cube yet (c) will take a while to get any Perfect gems. I don't mind any of this at all but is it worthwhile keeping all the rings, jewels and amulets or have I missed a recipe somewhere?

In the Catacombs level 2 I got an "Oil of crafting" and a "Nul" rune. Are these meant to drop so early?

Oh, and I am still loving the mod :) .

Installation notes: I noticed the "Check Faith Integrity 022.bat" does a check for "FAITH021.CFG"
if not exist faith021.cfg echo FAITH021.CFG could not be found >> FaithError.log
. This always creates an error log as I didn't have version 1.09.021 installed prior to trying version 022 but I suspect as the check is labelled 022 and "FAITH022.CFG" exists and is found by the check, that this line for 021 should simply be removed from the batch file?
[EDIT2] I also just noticed the "Faith-Install-ENG.bat" does checks for 021.CFG. While this doesn't cause problems with installing the mod, maybe you should add a second check for 022 if the first check for 021 fails? This might prevent unnecessary moving and copying of files.

PlugY: I think you would be better using version 5.06 of PlugY instead of 7.01b as 7.01b was designed specifically for 1.11b and the uber quests. There are some minor multiplayer issues with 7.01b and 1.09D/1.10 mods and while 5.06 isn't perfect, it is more stable with a 1.09D/1.10 mod. I did some multiplayer testing of 5.06 for Yohann in Zy-El (1.09D based mod also) when he was developing it so I do have a little experience with this.

PlugY.ini: If you stick with 7.01b I would suggest you change the keys for the annihilus and uber quests which you have set to 1 at the moment in the PlugY.ini supplied with the mod. While they may not cause any problems and are simply ignored, they also may cause wierd problems and not all users will know how to change them i.e. "ActiveWorldEvent=0" and "ActiveUberQuest=0".

I had problems installing and getting it to work. I am downloading it again, because I have a feeling it was a corrupt download.

Make sure you have the "Start in" set correctly, especially if you use anything other than <DRIVE>:\Program Files\Diablo II\Faith. It's a -direct -txt mod so also make sure those two switches are in the "target" line. After checking the above and that the files are not corrupt you may still get an "installation error" relating to 021.CFG files but it should still work okay. Good luck my friend :) .

EzechielP: I just figured out one of the "wine" recipes using Ogdens Sign which gave me a real sense of achievement :) . I tried a few more variations but only got the one to work so far. I know I could check cubemain but I am deliberately avoiding doing so as that would spoil the fun of discovery. I also made a nice helm for a barb using 6 x "Imbuescroll of frost" and my single perfect sapphire on an Avenger Guard. I still need to figure out what to do with the named tome "Adrias" and the two tale books I found; "Fosamer" and "Eldariel".....just started Act 5 normal and still loving it :).......only one downside...still got a load of hoarded rings, jewels and amulets and don't know what to do with them :roll: .

I'm glad you like my mod so far! Thank you so much for your feedback!

Yeah, I recognized that faith021.cfg bug just yesterday when I finished the promised (minor) Update 023. Everyone who has installed 022 only needs to download the Update to 023! Most of the changes consist of the more random monster placement... Enjoy the chaos :) And yeah it may unbalance the levels a bit. For now I just want to see if this feature will be praised or damned...

The "Alraunenknollen" is one of my so-called treasure-items (honestly I couldn't find a proper translation myself so I kept it german, its the name of a certain herb that was used by alchemists). Originally I didn't intend to use them as anything but a neat source for gold, but then some players gave me the idea of using them in cube-recipes. So any item that looks unfamiliar could be a valueable item for a recipe later on. As for "Adrias tome", it's not (yet) used in a recipe... But keep an eye open for the "Tales of ..." ;) A little Trivia about those Tale-Books: The names come from my pen&paper-roleplaying buddys that I meet almost every week...

As for the crafting oil in Catacombs 2, yeah it was intentional somehow but treasureclasses gave me headaches everytimes I went through with my beta-testers. This is irc the forth try to make things drop as they should ;)

The throwing potions, well I tried to make them more useable by extending their variety. Some of the problems (like the distance-problem) occured to me already and to be honest, I don't know if this feature should be kept in... I wait and see for other opinions.

About rings, I'd say with using PlugY you might as well keep them. Speaking of PlugY. Originally I used 5.06, I just thought 7.01b would be a reasonable upgrade... Oh well. At least until now I had no troubles with it, I guess. Hope it stays that way!

Done. I tried the crypt for the very first time today.... :D ....BIG mistake :P . My sorc got absolutely wasted. It's not a balance issue, it's just I haven't played long enough yet and haven't found/crafted the gear she will need to survive in there. Looks like it will be a good area for drops and levelling :) .

I am keeping the rings, ammys and jewels but sad to say the 7.01b multiplayer bug hit me :( . I had made a multiplayer game for testing, made a nice rare Signet Ring with 1 socket and 20% magic find and some nice resistances using the recipes. Stored it in the shared stash, left the game, went back in single-player and bam...ring had not saved. Like I said in my earlier post, PlugY 5.06 isn't completely free of this problem but it happens less often than with PlugY 7.01b. Losing this ring is no great loss to me but there may be other players who have played for longer who might lose items they have been crafting for a long time that they definitely want to keep.

It looks like I am going to have to do a clean install of D2. It is about time for me anyway, it has been over 6 months for me since the last clean install. I will not have the time to do it until Monday (next day off). I will have three mods running (Zy-El, ES, Faith). ES is the only one that is 1.10. I will set up first Faith, then Zy-El and then ES.

I have pasted the first 30 lines of code but if you need more I have saved the error file and can either edit it here or email it to you. From my uneducated perspective it looks like an item prefix/suffix problem. Something trying to drop with stats it shouldn't get or a prefix/suffix that isn't possible?

I also tried for about 1 hour today using .023 to gamble for a 1x4 Hell charm. I tried all vendors but none of them offered a Hell charm in the gamble window. Has this been removed from .023 gambling? The reason I ask is that I got a nice magic amazon Hell charm and an even better rare Sorceress Hell charm a couple of days ago using version .022 within the space of 15 minutes.

Hans: Get a grip man. This is just typical of a german pornstar/bee gee lookalike :mrgreen: Seriously, if you are still having problems, PM me and maybe we can sort it via Messenger.

The error is a charm error. It means a charm tried to drop with no qualifying affixes from MagicPrefix or MagicSuffix. This can happen with mods early in the game, especially when a new character is first venturing into Blood Moor. Check your affixes and make sure at least one in each file has min level = 1.

Thought I fixed that charm error a while ago. Gotta think again...

Yep the Hell Charms are removed from gambling. In combination with the different monster population I expect to make things a bit harder again (since some player gave me feedback about how easy my mod can be). But don't worry. Good Things come out of the variety of Cube recipes ;)

For all my characters the "Crypt" is still a "no-go area". Then again, I haven't figured out many cube recipes yet and your other players have probably played a lot more than I have.

Any plans to revert back to PlugY 5.06 in light of the Multiplayer issues when using 7.01b?

I'm definitely give it a thought. After all it wasn't that much of a change for the mod (just thought it would be). And since the functions for 1.09 are the same I may revert to PlugY 5.06 in the next Update!

The only thing I would miss from 7.01b would be the ability to see your characters "base" stats but I have lived without it in Zy-El so I could live without it in Faith and there may be another way for you to implement this feature in any case. Bottom line is it is your mod so do what you feel is right. Anything I say is merely a suggestion.

I reinstalled D2 and the mod is working :) .

My first character is a HC Pally named FaithNoMore. He is only level 2 at the moment. It surprised me when a volcano appeared and pesky little fallen started to pop out. I like the look and feel of the game so far.
