Trouble installing

Post by Crackhead » Fri Feb 17, 2006 4:46 am

For some reason after downloading this thing like 10 times I still don't get a batch file and after installing the 2ndary way and start the game it's fine but as soon as I click "Single Player" it shows an error message saying "Unhandled Exception ACCESS_VIOLATION(c0000005)" Anybody else recieve this message? And if so have any ideas how to solve this?

What game version are you using? ME v1.92 is for D2/LoD v1.10, but if you have been on Battle.net recently you have v1.11 or v1.11b. You might read our multi-version tutorial to get back to v1.10 and still have the more recent version(s) available.

If you have a working v1.10 setup and still have installation problems, try this alternate manual method. You get an added benefit in that your saved mod characters will not be on the same list as your saved unmodded characters. Mixing the two can be hazardous to your enjoyment!
  • Make a subdirectory in your Diablo II directory, call it Middle Earth or something descriptive. Download (or copy) the mod zip there and make it your current directory.
  • If you run v1.11+ by default, copy the v1.10 dlls to this directory. You will also need a v1.10 game.exe (named game110.exe or similar distinction) in your Diablo II directory.
  • Unzip the mod files now, make sure "use folder names" is active (checked).
  • Download our Mod Running Scripts into your Middle Earth directory. If you run v1.11+ and are multi-versioning to v1.10, find the line in the launch script that reads D2CmdLine = chr(34) & D2Path & "game.exe" & chr(34) & "-direct" and change game.exe to whatever your v1.10 game file is named (e.g. game110.exe).
  • Double-click on LaunchModGame.vbs in Windows Explorer. (You can also make a shortcut to this file, be sure the mod directory is listed in the shortcut's "Start In" property.) The first time you run the mod, answer YES to compiling bins. Every time after that, answer NO unless you download a mod update or reinstall.
Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest.
