anyone pls post how to install guide

hello i want play the 1.8 mod and i cannt find a install guide ...

the interside from v and k is down i think

Ok I try to explain it:

1.) Unzip the Mod-Package into your Diablo II Dictionary
----> Be sure "Create Subfolders is checked"

2.) Create a Shortcut with "game.exe" (it is in you D2 Dictionary)
----> If you don't see it turn off the "Hide system and hidden files" and the "Hide extension of known files" These options are in "Extras -> Options -> View" At last there they are in the german windows.

3.) Edit the properties of this shortcut
----> Rightclick -> Properties

4.) Edit the Path, there must be something like

"X:\xxx\Diablo II\game.exe"
turn it into
"X:\xxx\Diablo II\game.exe" -direct -txt

or if you don't have any spaces in your path it is like that

X:\xxx\Diablo2\game.exe
turn it into
X:\xxx\Diablo2\game.exe -direct -txt

5.) Rename the Shortcut to "Diablo II - Middle Earth" (optional)

6.) Run the Game

i made it excatly as u said but the game is crashing always after 10 mins or so?
can it be that i must make a folder for the data directory or so ?

Hi

You must unzip the downloaded file into the directory where you installed Diablo 2. It will overwrite the files D2game.dll, D2win.dll so be sure to make a backup of those two, and it will create a folder named "Data" where all the mod stuff goes into.

Inside this Data folder are quite some subfolders with the mod content. Thats why you need to be sure to extract the whole stuff with subdirectories (in my winzip the option to be ticked is called "use folder names")

Also be sure that you run either the english or german language version and start new characters. Sometimes the game has trouble passing the character selection menu if there are lots of non-mod characters in it (probably due to unique items or something). In that case make a backup of your "save" folder and then empty the one in your Diablo 2 directory.

btw do you see the new menu background pictures when you start the mod? Does Akara (she is named otherwise in the mod sell rings and Amulets?

If those two points are not true, then you don't have the mod activated. Check your shortcut. Make sure its
"...exe" -direct -txt
and NOT
"...exe"-direct-txt
and NOT
"...exe" -direct -text

As you mention the game crashes after a few minutes, you might be suffering from the weapon rack bug. Perhaps that bug has already been repaired in the latest version, but if it hasn't: don't use weapon racks and armor stands in the first few maps of act 1 normal.
