Rework of the Set Part

Post by Éowyn » Thu Aug 21, 2003 3:34 pm

I'm currently reworking my Set Part too.

The first 3 are already complete, if you like you can look at them and tell if it is ok like I made it or not ;)

I am expecting them to change certain sets in the patch after the initial release of 1.10. Khan said the first thing they'll do would be to get together a playable version of the mod as soon as the patch is out and look for improvements later.

I think much could be done with the sets, at least visually (I want to be able to look like a Black Knight if I complete a certain set for example, but it is still unclear whether this will be possible in the new patch or not).

yes we changed the sets. We mainly added one socket to each set item that can have sockets (to make them more attractive) and we enhanced the full set bonus, in some cases drastically

For example Miriel's Heritage now grants
+15% faster cast rate
+3 to all skills
+30 to strength
+30 to dexterity
+25 to energy
+25 to vitality

The Archer's gear grants
+3 to Rohirrim skills
5% mana stolen
adds 12 minimum damage
adds 25 maximum damage

Those new transformation features might be a nice treat too

If the runeword Delirium is a good example, transformations can appear on all sorts of items, not just sets.

I am sure transformations can happen on any kinds of items, since there is an exmaple of a unique, a set and a runeword. The ultimate problem is, on which side of the "dll changes" line the transformation settings lie on.

I hope that comment doesn't cover Black Knights back from D1, since that would make me really saaaaaad, and maybe even angry.

I talked about the original D2 monsters, but I wouldn't like it also to turn into a black night as a sorceress...

Hmmm. Probably. But such an item would be melee oriented (hopefully?) anyway, so that wouldn't be such a big problem.

What monster would you like your sorceress to turn into?

Well these transformations should be themebased. I would imagine a complete set of Relics of Mordor could transform the character into a Nazgul or Black Knight.

maybe Miriel's Heritage could transform the user into a Will o the Whisp form - imagine Fireballs coming from a glowing Ghost shape with the name of a character on it ;)

anyways I am amazed that this transformation thingy doesn't cause major animation problems. I am not sure if you still attack, cast, walk etc with the same speed as before if your shape changes.
I mean a Dunadan with a certain equipment might use 6 frames to attack, 8 frames to walk and 4 frames to block. what if the animation of a transformed monster just doesn't have 8 frames to walk?

me thinks this is a funny feature but nothing more :)

I think the monster just speeds up or down, I don't think there are frame breakpoint animations included with monsters. When I turn into an Undead Stygian Doll, I walk and attack slower than an Undead Stygian Doll should, so I guess I just slow down the actualy animation of the monster.

A beautiful nymph for beautiful Eowyn perhaps?

That's cute enough to represent you I wager

But maybe something more... beautiful instead of so much cute

My apologies, it just had me smiling like "that's really cute" and not "ROTFL". And I did indeed look like the icon in my previous post :)
