EDIT: Please post if you cant get on when my server status is up. Because once I leave game I always edit back to down.

Rhonlore, could you repost your ip address please?
And guys, add me to your msn messenger so we can arrange a game some time.

Ok just so everyone knows, mine will be up only when people ask me to put it up, meaning add me to MSN/AIM and we can set up games to play together.

Re: Server Status and Invitations
i hope this is in the right place.
I just started playing this mod and so far it is awsome! the runes are an excellent addition to the game.
I dont play as much as i like as i get bored as it gets very lonely cause i cant play it on open. i play many other mods on open just to be online and to chat with my online freinds (wich none of them play mods) so it is still only me playing but at least i can chat with people, or leave game and go chat with peopel in the chanels.
Iwas just wonderng how i can "hook" up with other players of this awsome mod.
As of now i have no charecters that work with this mod as io have been trying out many many mods so charecter space is limited. but if i can start playing this more often with other people i can make more "permanent" charecters.
another semi off topic question is, Is it possibvle to set up seperate save files for different mods without having to copy and paste them every time i play? I know it is possible using a simalar program used to start up the rune mod and i could proably write a program using VB to just that, but if there is a program that allows that.. why bother writing one myself
EDIT: typos are evil

Re: Server Status and Invitations
excellent.. i will test this out now. hopefully it will work they way i want it
if it works the way i think it will.. i will need a shell to lauch all the mods from. wich is childs play. i could have seperate shortcuts for each mod.. but i dont like desktop clutter so a shell type prog is easily set up as i have many that i have made before
EDIT: it works well but cant run that along with the rune mod.. but having the rune mod work with the regualar save files will work as i can run the "real" D2LoD using the script so it has its seperate saves from Rune
Time to get it all organized and start working on a shell program
Now i just need people to play with me

Re: Server Status and Invitations
The VB script in the File Center does not work for Sir_General's Rune Mod, use his launcher instead. It does work for every other mod I have tested (ten or so), and should if the mod maker didn't use Sir_General's custom DLL technique. (Oddly enough, his technique used in the beta did work.)
You can use this version of the script to run his launcher and get the benefit of the isolated save directory (just copy the lines below and paste into a Notepad file, save with vbs extension). Check your Windows Registry to confirm the save path key is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER. If the key is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE instead, use HKLM wherever you see HKCU. If you have the same key in both places, copy every line you see HKCU and change the copies to HKLM. Or you can look at the latest version of the script, that Alkalund provided a link to, and copy the key manipulation lines.

It depends if many people are going to play on open B.net, compared to people playing TCP/IP.

Re: Server Status and Invitations
Question: To play in Open B.net, can't I just replace the BNclient.dll from my RuneMod folder with the original one from blizzard ?? Of course I backup my RuneMod BNclient.dll first...
EDIT: Please don't try this at home, it crashed my game and made me reinstall diablo. Still, I'd like to know if simple file replacing could solve our little server problem...

Re: Server Status and Invitations
You won't be able to play this mod on Open Bnet because there is a modified D2Client.dll. Changes to that file cause the Unable to Identify Version error on the Bnet login screen.

Re: Server Status and Invitations
What are the chances of the mod creators making it possible to connect to open b-net to play with other runemod players? Cyrus and I mod together regularly, but because of firewall issues we can't use tcp/ip, we have to go through open battlenet.
And if not adding the ability to connect to open b-net, does anyone have any advice at all about dealing with firewalls? Mine's in my router, so it's kinda there to stay. :/ I can't host games, but I can connect to most games hosted by others, except those hosted by Cyrus for some reason.

Re: Server Status and Invitations
If you play through a router, you might see if you have port forwarding properly set up between the router and the machine D2 is installed on. Access your router's setup page and forward ports 4000 and 6112 to the internal IP your machine has on the local network.
Open Bnet probably won't happen because of the modified d2client.dll.

Re: Server Status and Invitations
Yes, Myhrginoc had helped me with this problem, with a linksys router it's a few simple steps
1) Connect to the router using IE ( 192.168.1.1 is standard )
2) Input Name/Pass
3) Click Advanced
4) Click port Forwarding
I suggest you open 6112-6119 and 4000 with both UDP and TCP
5) Make sure information is correct (most importantly where to foward too!) and hit Apply Changes (or something close)

What about connecting to your self when you're on a network? How would you go about that, and are there any problems?

Well, I've tried what you guys suggested, and I couldn't figure out how to get it to work. :/
Connecting to 192.168.100.1 returns a "file not found" type page, and when I get onto the main computer (that my computer is networked to) I've not been able to find any way to change any of those ports.
