there was something about this in the IRC thread in member announcements 2 years ago, I have posted there myself because of this...apparently Kardon was going to look into getting the limit increased back then, but seems it still holds at 5 from one client, that being the cgi:irc...

RIP? I'm confused, why is the keeps cgi link the only way to connect?
The first time I logged on I used the script but after that its been MIRC.
Yeah this severely inconvient, but RIP I think not.

and this thing: *** - o MAX of 4 connections per host. confuses me.

The way CGI:IRC works is that it creates the connection from the website to the server. This is a great way to circumvent protective proxies.

Now, that line "Max of 4 connections per host" means that you can only have 4 open connections simultaneously from one IP address. Since you are all connecting from the Websites IP, it will get G-Lined if 5 people connect.

If you go to GameSurge's webpage and have an account (or created one.. I'm not sure if it's bound to AuthServ or whatever but...) You can apply to have your connections increased.
