Huge dilemma!
I am going to have a huge dilemma when Metalstorm is released.
If Diablo III is released around the same time it will be even worse:
Do I devote most of my playing time to my current favourite Mod of all time, Zy-El.
Do I devote most of my playing time to Metalstorm which could become my favourite Mod of all time.
Do I devote most of my playing time to Diablo III which could become my favourite commercial game of all time.
Do I devote 1/3 of my playing time to each or some other split.
Do I devote most of my free time to modding Diablo III (assuming it's possible and legal). N.B. I decided I was too late on the Diablo II modding scene to make anything worthwhile (too many great modders already had a few years start on me) but I am determined to get in at the start of Diablo III modding if at all possible.
So curse you all, Kato, Nefarius and Blizzard.
Kato for making a mod that has so much content I could play it for the next 10 years and still be left wondering what to try next.
Nefarius for making a mod that, at first, second and third glances could have a close to infinite number of possibilities in the character builds and playing styles/methods/item selection.
Blizzard for making a game that Kato and Nefarius got their hands on and for the impending release of something they may get their hands on again and may be a stand-alone delight in itself.
Seriously, it's a nice dilemma to have. (but curse you all )

Re: Huge dilemma!
I agree, too many good mods still aren't finished and I want to play them all. Too bad I don't have the time.
Re: Huge dilemma!
I have the exact issue Al.
Likely what I would do is 50/50 split between D2 and D3
I might be looking into making a mod for D3 as well.

I just hope d2 mods in general don't die when d3 comes out.

Re: Huge dilemma!
First of all thank you all for your support
I can't speak for everyone but this here won't be effected by D3 (or any other game release for that matter)Jase" wrote:I just hope d2 mods in general don't die when d3 comes out.
Somewhere else on the keep forums I summed up my feelings in regard of D3, I am a retro gamer and I don't particularly care about anything new being released and likely never will beyond the point that I can use these games to get more resources from for my mod projects (models that can be rendered to sprites, sounds and such), I'm going to stick with this project for a very long forseeable future, the only thing that may get in the way would be a combination of murphy's law and real life.Al-T (emphasis added)" wrote: Blizzard for making a game that Kato and Nefarius got their hands on and for the impending release of something they may get their hands on again and may be a stand-alone delight in itself.
Since we plan to release a proper beta (that honors the actual meaning of the term, not what generations of marketing folk have butchered it into) that is going to be taking a fair while, we're not going to release an incomplete alpha of the project and brand it beta , the beta release will be of the complete mod (after a complete feature freeze and all internal testing and fixing is complete), there will be a few slots open for internal tests (probably 5, but it is not something of concern at the moment) at a point when we feel it is ready for semipublic exposure.weapon-x" wrote:i hope metalstorm gets into beta phase already
