elemental damage

Just a quick question. With enough +max resists and elemental absorb, can you be healed by elemental attacks?

Only if you got absorb x elemental damage and if your resists and absorb x% elemental damage are high enough. It should be noted that absorb x% elemental damage is capped at 40%.

afaik you can only get healed if you have some absolute elemental absorb and the damage you would take without that flat absorb needs to be lower than the amount of flat absorb.

I'm not sure I understand you, pza, so let me ask a question for clarification. If I have 95% fire resist and 10% fire absorb and I get hit by a fireball that normally does 1000 damage, what happens?

Fire resist reduces it to 50 damage. Then the fire absorb negates 5 (10% of 50) fire damage and then heals you of 5 damage to your health orb (thus effectively being a further 20% reduction). But since %fire absorb is capped at 40% it will be an 80% reduction after your resists (combined with 95 resist makes an effective resist of 99). Then you need an other mod called absorb fire damage (not the lack of %! which means its integer reduction) that has a value of over 15 in order for the 1000 damage fireball to heal you instead of hurt you.
