It would be cool and popular if you could make a sticky where people can make there own items like make up stats and stuff for it then after tons have been submitted you choose like 10 to actually make.
like uniques and sets i mean.

If you would create a rare, it would most likely rule supreme over most set/unique counterparts.

Take this belt for instance:
  • Plated Belt (Sacred) [Crafted]
    Defense: 4819
    Durability: 61
    Required Strength: 909
    Required Level: 105 (probably higher though, since it's crafted)
    Already Upgraded!
    +1 to Barbarian Skill Levels
    +350% Enhanced Defense
    +30 to All Attributes
    +10% to [Element] Spell Damage
    +20% Life Stolen per Hit
    Increase Maximum Life 20%
    Damage Reduced by 10%
    Socketed (2)

I agree that crafed barb belts are very nice, especially +20% max life. I have one very similar, without +1 to barb skills.

I hope he remembers that he doesn't have to use any of these items if he doesn't want to, but that they will be here if he doesn't feel like straining his brain thinking of future items.

I'm going to sticky this thread, let people post their suggestions, if something good and balanced and possible pops up, I'll add it to the next patch, Documentation Hell™ be damned.

None of those '[poster name]'s Revenge, 2000 damage, 500-1000 each of fire, cold, lightning, magic, poison, spectral, toxic, particle and antimatter, 101% chance to cast level 99 Gamma Field when you enter CoV, +[2^savebits+1] to some stat, +50% chance to do something completely impossible' type suggestions please, because otherwise I'd be forced to find a polite way to tell you to get lost. :P

What? Item creation thread? Stickied? I'll join ...

(ideas are silly, and I don't have numbers of each modifiers because it won't fit you taste)

Full Moon (whatever, melee preferable)
x% chance to morph target into a werewolf (or morph you, but morph target is funnier)
x% chance to summon dancing wolves
x% chance to slice enemies in a 1/2 circle pattern (cresent strike!!!)
+magic damage (10-20 is nice, 100-200 is better, 66.6-666 - forget it)
Moonlight state (similar to the command spells', glowing beam on your char)
...other random mods ... %block, %faster hit recovery, extra bloody hit, chance to cast Sacrifice on attack with 200% reflected damage etc ...)
Stay away from ballet dancers with an attitude .

33% Chance to cast Frost Nova when struck
1% Chance to cast Seismic Field when struck (the Levels are up to you to, since they'd need not to be overpowered --> it's for the colours! :lol: )

not really sure on how balanced that is, never was too good at balancing right off the bat but feel free to tinker around with the numbers if you like.

Could you make that just [Kur + Ix + Vith], enabling it for for Pally 1h weapons? The Crucify on that one might be a wee bit too much, but it's a great suggestion nonetheless.

Anyway, I haven't got any ideas myself, but I'd really like to see something new to Zon Javelins, as well as Pally 1h weapons (both caster/melee).

Imo item with skill "Gift of the Rathma's Chosen" would be nice (ctc or oskill with huge timer) for necro.

And item with Gift of celerity as oskill (ctc xbow is useless because it wont proc with deathstrike).

Also some powerfull 2h axes. Nowdays nobody uses 2h axes, polearms/spears/hammers or skill restrictions causes this.

zanzu's idea is crap, since there is a certain jewel that can grant you fortress or something similar, and that means together with the usage of retaliate and 2% chhance to cast unholy armor on striking full invulnerability everywhere everytime. ergo - imbalanced.


set suggestion (laz, don't read this! it's a set! you don't like sets!):

Nilathak's Will (all items have a black colour on the char)
total set bonus:
+100 to all attributes
-20% to enemy resistances
+1 to cold fear
+10 to timestrike
25% to all resistances

weapon:
Nilathak's Frozen Crystal
Crystal sword (sacred)
300% enhanced damage
adds 500-1000 cold damage
freezes target +4
+30% to spelldamage
-10% reduced requirements

set bonus:
when worn with nilathak's dark plans: 10% revive as enslaved


Helmet:
Nilathak's dark Plans
Bone Helmet (sacred)
+250% enhanced Defense
100% chance to cast lvl x avatar on death
10% spelldamage
+2 to all skills

set bonus:
when worn with nilathak's crutch: 50% poison resistance

Ring:
Nilathak's Betrayal

+1 to all skills
-5% lower trade prices
-10% to all resistances
+10 to all attributes

it shouldnt have negative to all enemy resistances, it should only be cold.

Just normal jevelin attack without quantity lost. Its better than enfilade and sunspear in many situations btw.

Couple of things:

- +%/level needs to be an integer divided by 32 (no 0.666);

- oskill passives on non-class-specific items are a bad idea because they share states with other character skills;

- Remember Fortress or Cascade or Spore Shot can strike 20 times per second if not more. Be careful with low percentages to balance out chance to cast abilities on striking, because they'll go off like a Roman candle anyway. Also, high percentages for flashy abilities on striking will lag up the game. Chance to cast skills on attack are often better unless the skill is simple and causes few lag. I found this out the hard way;

- Satan isn't a character in Diablo lore;

Clarification: runewords only have real world names and no lore names, uniques and sets have only lore names and no real world names.

- Base damage of an item is fixed;

- Items should not make up for character skill weaknesses, otherwise you get Hero's Fang syndrome.
(People made melee necros before Hero's Fang, and I implemented the item to help them; but now many think they can't possibly make a melee necro without Hero's Fang, and because the item is so rare, they never get started. It turns out the item reduced the number of melee necros, instead of promoting them)

yeah, that's why i'm prposing a set that'd fit some melee necs... now i only think that my idea of giving the set all that spelldamage is not that good, because of another type of syndrome: an item with 50 faster cast rate and 200% enhanced damage is worse both for casters and for fighters than an item wiith only 50 faster cast rate or another one with only 200% ed. at least that's what people think.

just like: "Why does 'wish' has +x to scattershot and arcane torrent?? is that for bow chars or for caster chars? either way, it must be crappy, because it's too unspecific."

now the set i proposed adds spellpower, though the necro doesn't really need enhanced spelldamage, if he's not a ele-totemmancer. but since it has got that spellpower it can't be good for melee necros.

either one has to add more advantages for a ele-totemmancer (more skills, fcr) or leave them completely out, so that noone can say "i don't wear this, it seems to be made for totemmancers, and i want to have a melee-only necro)

actually the fewest people think about mixing ele totems with melee gameplay... and i understand that, because both types of chars simply need too many different skills maxed.

note: or simply remove necromancer skilllevels from boots and add +1 to barb skill levels... and suddently it's a nice kraken barb set with the name of a necroset :P

Is there any non-weapon non-shield knockback source before high levels? No, and there's a reason for that. (Cascade!) Also, CBF has no place on a sash, and if it's called Summoner's set, it should help you ...summon things.

Did you get the memo about sacred sets only, by the way? ;)
