A point about the sacrifice replacement, its not going to be sword only is it? or more of a "Weapon Mastery" ? something that, if we want, makes any weapon we weild better? I'd like to suggest, as paladins mainly use blunt weapons that we have maybe a a slvl20 10% crushing blow (thats pretty powerfull, but you'd expect that for 20 skill points) instead of a critical strike, as the zon and sin get :)

It'll most likely be all paladin-only melee weapons includes holy scepters, axes and swords. I just need to build up the enthusiasm again as I hate skill editing ;)

Skill editing certinaly isn't the be-all and end-all of a mod :) so we don't mind how long it takes, worst thing about a mod is when the skill editing is rushed and ends up unbalancing things.

Top Wants/Comments at the moments are probably just more IE monsters, more variety of monsters on each level, I can not get enough of some of the great monsters i'm getting to slay, like Gnolls (great port of them!)

So possibly an installation problem?

Yeah, i did it wrong the first time, then pulled my head out of my arse and it works gine.

Now that one's just odd. Any chance of a screenshot of the item and/or hireling stats please? Might give me a clue as to where to start looking.
well, my dad actually told me about this one, said he tried to put a bow with divine gems on his hireling(the hireling was above lvl req. for the bow and the gem, but would not except on hireling). let me try to recreate this on my own char. or get more info from him.

I've had the same thing happen with my Rogue Merc, unable to have only helm, body armour, and bow. In the old version I had probs with, and again in this new one reinstall from scratch. Never mentioned as I thought it was still in the works for modding. Tried a Iron Wolf Merc and it didn't even have the slots for rings and things. Now in NM, tried a new Rouge Merc. Same thing. Even worse, my old Norm Rogue Merc took Planar bows, this one wont. :( . This was one of Stums post problems.
I don't think it is an install problem.

well first off just tryin' to wake up, the first time i just tried it with the d2mod.ini that came with the D/L (i dont have d2mod installed normally)(also when i have a mod installed, its in its own folder, but each mod folder is a full D2 install, hard on the memory i know, lol, but my comp. is old and kind of tempermental.) after it didn't work i took out the files from the d2mod zip that came with D/L but i used the original d2mod.ini that came with D/L , NOT the d2mod.ini that was part of the d2mod.zip
then i just used the d2modinstall ane it worked just fine
hope that helps

Ummm...huh? ;)

So you did or didn't use the one I put in the root folder of the zip (not in d2mod.zip)?

i used the d2mod.ini from PH D/L, but i used the d2mod.dll and d2mod setup.bat from the d2mod.zip(the 2 d2mod.ini's were different so i used the one that came with PH D/L)

Gotcha now thanks :) Yep that's the way it's supposed to work. Not sure if PlugY users need to make any further modifications.

For us ole senile people a couple of queries.
1. What d2 mod zip?
2. What 2-d2mod.ini? I could only find one in PH.
Does this mean I have to install this whole thing over? Please same, that there is an easy fix.
Elad
I tried sticking the d2mod.ini from PH in the Diablo folder, but merc still didn't work.

You need to install D2Mod v1.02 which is the D2Mod.zip included in the download by unzipping it to your D2 folder and running the install file which preps your copy of D2 for the D2Mod DLL system. It says in the instructions to put the d2mod.ini file in your mod folder but I've already included the edited version of that in the d/l along with the DLLs which all go in the PH folder.

In short:
-Unzip the PH patch to your PH folder
-Unzip d2mod.zip (found in the the PH zip) to your D2 folder
-Run the d2mod install file in your D2 folder
-Play the mod

Whew!! Thank you-It is working fine "so far", can put rings in Merc. Haven't tried others. I had not install the d2 zip. I don't believe there were any install instructions when I made the initial install of PH. This will help mercs considerablely-with some resistance and other features.
Elad

Just read 83B progress- thanks for adding orbs to some merchants as a mix with staves.

Let's hope it holds up :) I did add something at the top of the installation thread when this last patch was released but I wondered at the time if I should put it somewhere more prominent. Glad your mercs are getting a makeover ;)

I figured it couldn't hurt mixing up the staves and orbs :D

Well, my happy train just came to a halt. Just as I was about to enter "The Somber Hills" my computer crashed. I had noticed that several skelton's arrows were going in slow motion.
Here is the crash-Act 1-NM

22:17:32.680 PROGRAM: Diablo II v1.10
22:17:32.680 COMPUTER NAME: VALUED CUSTOMER
22:17:32.680 USER NAME:
22:17:32.680 TIME: 2005-01-25 22:17:32.680
22:17:32.680
22:17:32.680 -------- FILE: D2Common\DRLG\Drlg.cpp LINE: 748 --------

Warning
Location : D2Common\DRLG\Drlg.cpp, line #748
Expression : ptCoordsLevel->nSizeTileY >= nTileMaxY - nTileMinY

Any advice will be appreciated. I just knew things were going too smooth. :( My Merc has rings, erring, belt, bracers, and boots now.

Well that's a map-based bug. Try reloading normal difficulty and then re-entering nightmare to respawn the maps.

I think I might have found a bug. I think this is the right place to put it. If not, my apologies.

Did you try using the item yet to see what it casts? I'm 99% sure the skill is "Fire Bolt" which if you check the progress the thread is fixed in 0.83 :D If not then there's another screwy bugger in here somewhere...

Don't be sorry, it's been a bug for a few versions that I kept forgetting to fix so it's just coincidence that you happened to mention it now :) Feel free to report whenever needed :D

Query- none of the new bows seem to work with my Rogue Merc, can only use the old ones. Is it suppose to be that way? This is the same question Strom had several post ago. My old srewed up version let the merc use them. :)
Thanks for the fix to my 2nd crash.
