[INFO] Do You See Green Tiles In The Act 1 Town?

So you rushed out to try the mod only to find this happening in the first area of the game? It's not actually a bug, more of an installation issue so I figured it should probably be addressed in it's own thread. Since posting the Installation Instructions we've had less of these reports but even so, it still needs covering.

The problem is caused by the switches you use when setting up your shortcut. With all "direct" mods you need to use the -direct switch which basically tells D2 to use the "Start In" folder of your shortcut as a base and use external files before access the MPQs to fill in the blanks. The mistake happens when you also use the -txt switch. Normally if the modder releases his TXT files as a direct mod you would use the switch which looks at the last version of all of the TXT files used and generates BIN files from them when the game starts for it to read. Pagan Heart has BIN files instead of TXT files (because we're sneaky) so when you use the -txt switch it looks back for the last TXT files it can find which are in the MPQs and merrily proceeds to generate new BIN files overwriting the PH ones. So basically when you get that green tile bug, the game isn't ready ANY of the mod's TXT/BIN files and you'll get all kinds of weird results ranging from the inventory looking huge but you can't drop things in the new parts (because the placeable dimensions are TXT-based, the graphics aren't) to all kinds of bizarre NPC animation and item bugs. To be honest, it's amazing that it even starts up at all.

So you've removed the -txt part of your shortcut and it's STILL got those funky green squares around the stash? (which is actually a house but without the TXT files to tell the game which tile set to use it freaks out and that's the result) This is because when you used the -txt switch it already destroyed our BIN files when it overwrote them so you'll need to reinstall the mod or at least the BIN files anyway.

Hope that helps answer your dilemmas!
