TTD installation problems thread

Post by GuyAskingQuestion » Sun Mar 18, 2007 1:02 am

For you know who to talk about you know what.

This might help from the readme:
-Run Diablo 2's video test and make sure the game is running in Direct3d mode

-Enter a game and TURN OFF perspective

-Extract the zip into the d2folder, this should create a folder called TTD in the d2 folder.

-Run D2ModSetup.bat (should be in your d2 folder)

-Backup your D2Direct3D.dll, and rename D2Direct3D TTD.dll to D2Direct3D.dll

-If you are running D2 in the standard installation folder (c:/program files/diablo II/) you can just run the shortcut from your desktop... otherwise your going to have to change the paths on the shortcut. Use mine as an example.

-The game should load in a window with the title "Diablo II - SGDirect3d - SVR" press ALT+ENTER to go full screen, if it has not make sure you changed the d2direct3d.dll
Assertions and Crashes

Q: I can't even start the game! I get this error:

Halt
Location:, line #1107
Expression: Unrecoverable internal error 6fe1e115

A: You are running Diablo II v1.11 or higher (actual error numbers may change depending on which higher version). This mod requires Diablo II v1.10. Please downgrade or set yourself up for laying multiple versions.

Q: Game crashes when character loading finishes. Log file shows:
Assertion Failure
Location : D2CMP\SRC\CelCmp.cpp, line #1103
Expression : !( pCelFile->dwFlags & CELFILE_24BIT )
A: Install replacement Direct3D.dll (named Direct3D TTD.dll.) And run a shortcut with the extension -mod TTD -b32

Q: It still crashes!

A: Run the vidtest and make sure you are running in direct3d mode. Sadly Glide and Directdraw will not work.

Q: The game loads fine, but I can only see my character and cannot move. The graphics are invisible/glitchy.

A: Press Escape and turn off Perspective mode.

General

Q: The game only loads in a window.

A: Press ALT+ENTER in game.

Q: My Maph@ck for 1.10 will not work, it says "invalid version" but this mod is for 1.10!

A: A side benefit of new dlls, plus if you actually ask this expect a warning. Talk of Maph@ck is not tolerated around these parts.

Q: The Barbarian/Adventurer is big and/or smelly, I want to be a sexy Sorceress!

A: You can, go to Gheed's misc page and take a looksie. I will get around to converting skills to all classes, but I need to get the skills 110% completed first.

So far, my testing has not taken me very far, but everything appears to be working properly for 0.91. Just something to note, my lvl 60 char is getting his butt handed to him by swiftfoot....the rakanishu replacement...but that was before .91...gotta try again now that I can access my spells easier

Is there anyway to tell if we've got it correctly installed? I've gone through the installation process and it just looks like vanilla to me.

A couple of signs:

*Different game select background
*Only 1 class available
*5 Skill tabs

I must be doing something wrong then... I do have multiple mods installed...

Do we have to download and install all versions?

God no.

If you aren't seeing any differences, are you running the shortcut?

I don't have a shortcut on the desktop. I've just used the shortcut provided in the TTD folder.

Double check the start in path for that shortcut. Mine was, by default, pointing to a non-existent folder.

Hello guys , im new here so don't judge me hard if i say something wrong , i havent played Diablo 2 for like 2 years so dont know much about moding stuff. Anyway i have a problem with this mod , i'll discribe what i've done.
I downloaded the mod itself "TTD-v0.94b-PPM". After reading carefully readme file i followed the instructions , i had v 1.11 so i downloaded clean v 1.10 dll files and patch file from this site and replaced the old ones.Checked the game , worked well , the game became v 1.10.Then i checked if it was running on Direct3d mode , it was . Entered game and turned off perspective. Then unzipped it to my Diablo 2 folder ( in my case C:\Games\Diablo II ) .Then the strangest part in readme ( sorry my english isnt very good so this was confusing for me ) - "Run D2ModSetup.bat (should be in your d2 folder)" , especialy the part "should be in your d2 folder" , because i don't have any D2ModSetup.bat in my Diablo 2 intalation folder , but i do have one in TTD folder , so i copied it from there to my Diablo 2 folder and executed it...and got error - "Error loading .\d2mod.dll The specified module cannot be found".That was confusing for me.when i tried executing it from TTD folder i got this error - "Cannot find required dll If Diablo is running u cannot setup this mod.Quit Diablo and try again."
So my question is - where is my mistake ? :( I read that this mod is very good so i badly wanna try it out... a little help will be appreciated.

Whoops, must be my mistake.

Copy both d2mod.dll and d2modsetup.bat to your main d2 folder (in your case C:\Games\Diablo II) and it should work.

Helped a bit , but still cant load mod.
Copied d2mod.dll and d2modsetup.bat , executed d2modsetup.bat , option appeared --> Do you want to install this mod (yes) or (no) , pressed (yes). Then made a backup of D2Direct3D.dll and renamed D2Direct3D TTD.dll to D2Direct3D.dll and copied it to Diablo II main folder. Executed shortcut from TTD folder . Game started in windowed mode , but i see no changes to menu and all classes are availible and when i create character error appears when loading finishes -->
Assertion Failure

Right, you need to check the shortcut. Right click it and choose "properties"

In your case it needs to be setup like this:

Target: "C:\Games\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -mod TTD -b32 -direct
Start In: "C:\Games\Diablo II\TTD"

I think I did everything correctly but when I start up Diablo II with the shortcut it displays the Blizzard Entertainment and Blizzard North cinematics ok, but then the screen goes black and I get an error;

Halt
Location:, line #1107
Expression: Unrecoverable internal error 6fe1e115

EDIT: By the way it loads in a fullscreen window.

If you have replaced the direct3d.dll then your game must be running under glide, or on a card incompatible with direct x9. Run the "8bit graphics.bat" to fix the problem.

Isn't this a D2 v1.10 mod? That looks like a D2 v1.11+ error format.

Tetsuoken, this mod is for patch 1.10 only.

You can find most recent patches in our File Center (see links list at left), or go to Blizzard's own patch site. If you want to keep your game current and still play mods based on older game versions, read our tutorial for setup information.

Well some info might help, so general info: are you using 1.10? Did you create a new char? Are you using any 3rd party progs like plugy?
