The Phrozen Keep through its staff members has never supported discussion on creation and deployment of software to establish and operate private realm servers (bnetd and its cousins). As a result of the judgment in Davidson & Associates, Inc vs Internet Gateway, et al. decided on 9/30/2004, we are now prohibiting any discussion on access to or playing on private realm servers, in addition to the previous restriction. Accordingly, a new section has been added to the Terms of Service on this subject. Over the next few days we will be locking and stowing any messages and threads devoted to the subject. We will not consider any such discussion posted prior to this announcement to be a violation of our terms and restrictions.
Our action does not in any way reflect our individual beliefs concerning private servers or the people who operate and/or use them. The game is clearly designed to be at its best in a multiplayer environment. At least the decision is narrowly targeted toward Battle.net emulators and use of the restricted access protocol; nothing in the decision addresses unmodded network linking through TCP/IP in the Other Multiplayer mode.
We regret any confusion and bad feeling this action may cause.

Re: Change in Keep Policy | bnetd Shot Down Again
For about three months now, we have had a policy against discussing private realms and playing mods there. A few people have not paid attention to this rule, or don't take the rules seriously enough. But everybody has had plenty of time to learn about them, and as the judge might say "ignorance of the law is no excuse." Discussing them violates Part XXII of our Terms of Servce, and linking to other sites supporting them violates Part XI and Part XXII.
From now on, any discussion of private realms will result in an official warning, without exception. These are not collectibles, get enough of them (a very small number) and your access privileges here will be removed.
